BJ was a boring character. they made him a practical joler, and he was still boring
Always whining about “Peg and Erin”. Like nobody else had people they left behind.

rogers' alabama drawl was the perfect contrast/partner for alda's fast talking groucho
The series Trapper was an amalgam of Trapper & Duke Forrest from the book/movie. Like Frank Burns was an amalgam of two officers from the book.

I always fricking hated BJ Honeycutt. Such a poor replacement for Trapper John.
If Wayne Rogers had never left the show, we may have never heard of Farrell.

Soap actor prior to “M*A*S*H” as I recall.

Klinger would be embarrassed.
The character BJ that he played was also a fig.

He has a spine like a brine shrimp.

they kept the trapper name b/c it was better known

mash trivia: burt reynolds was offered the duke role in the movie, but turned it down as too small

At least you didn't have to be embarrassed by Wayne Rogers who really was from Birmingham. A real good guy. I used to watch him on a Saturday morning show that focused on financial matters and the stock market. He was a sharp guy and well-versed in those areas.
But Alan Alda and Farrell were typical left-wing loons. At least Alda had talent and was good on the show.

Exactly, What a Cali fig. In MASH he was from the SF area so that makes sense,

Trapper was way better than Beej.

Of course the dipshite strawmans the argument and says that brown skin and foreign accents are the reasons for the targeting.
How do you dumbass progressives reconcile all the hispanic and black ice agents that are out there?

Yes. Major Dunbar. Religious fanatic.
CAPTAIN Frank Burns was hardly mentioned. Barely competent surgeon.

Hawkeye was a self-righteous douche
99% of the time, Hawkeye is non-pc smartass
he only became a liberal crusader later, after producer larry gelbart left and alda took more control of the show

Oh believe me, the first 3 seasons are canon to me.
Hawkeye was less of a douche, but still had his moments. The Dr Borelli episode (with Alda’s father) is a prime example.

much preachier was the one where his friend is killed in action
but even that was nothing to later stomach turners like "Dreams" or the one where Hawkeye reads the eulogy and tells the other characters how much he loves them.

Speaking right from a script like an actor. The same goes for Deniro. Too bad they can no longer memorize lines. It might come off as more authentic.

Alan Alda was always a bitch.. therefore Hawkeye was always a bitch. My grandfather who was in WW2 hated MASH. Said it was BS etc.
