At least you didn't have to be embarrassed by Wayne Rogers who really was from Birmingham. A real good guy. I used to watch him on a Saturday morning show that focused on financial matters and the stock market. He was a sharp guy and well-versed in tho

Easily the worst episode of the series. It’s so bad as to be virtually unwatchable.

watch the 1st 3 seasons
99% of the time, Hawkeye is non-pc smartass
he only became a liberal crusader later, after producer larry gelbart left and alda took more control of the show

I liked him better as BJ Honeycutt.

quote:No one claims MASH was a realistic portrait of the Korean War
Alan Alda was always a bitch.. therefore Hawkeye was always a bitch. My grandfather who was in WW2 hated MASH. Said it was BS etc
Many vets loved MASH, at least the early eps, for its satire of military red tape (such as the classic ep where they try to get an incubator)
Satire is exaggerated
Joseph Heller's Catch-22 lampooned military bureaucracy and scheming officers. But it was as much an allegory about conniving executives in '50s corporate America as it was war. It was not intended to be realistic. As Heller himself said, "I never had a bad officer"

He’s from Birmingham. I’m embarrassed.
He served in the Marines... he can't be that bad.
EDIT -- seems I also mixed BJ vs Trapper

pre MASH, he was known in h'wood as investment counselor to the stars. WR made at least 3 movies w/Paul Newman - I wonder if he did Paul's investments?
When an old NYC roommate of Wayne's was ripped off by his business manager, he set the actor up in a TV series to make some fast money.
And that's how we got Peter Falk as Columbo

The thing about the MASH series that was obviously wrong were the 70s haircuts when it was filmed. The first or second season was ok, but them Alda and Farrell turned the series into a lib love fest. It is obvious that Farrel continues to have severe TDS.

Moving.
For me, this changes everything.

Perfect clip. When will the baby boomers leave? Born from 1940-1960. They have done quite enough damage.
