Is there any reason why you guys are against abortion besides religious views?
Genuine question, I know I haven't agreed with a lot of folks on here, but I'm just trying to understand other people's political views because I'm starting to get interested in it.

Do you think it's wrong even in the case of rape or possible health problems being present to the mother?

My biggest concern re: abortion is that I cannot possibly imagine when life begins. I know it’s not at conception; zygotes split and absorb each other. So the day after pill is fine to me. I’d be fine with an abortion the day after, though there isn’t such a thing.

The problem is later; is it at a couple weeks? Maybe. It might be. If I don’t know, I can’t be “pro” abortion. I also can’t find it in myself to force women to have children they don’t want. It’s complicated, it’s emotional, and it’s something I do not have the right answer to, so I default to the sort of flaccid “safe, legal, and rare”. I would add “and very early”, and “certainly not in the third trimester”.

Yeah, definitely not the third trimester. I'm definitely not "pro-abortion," but I do think that people have the right to choose what happens to their bodies.

what's the reason?

Because you were fricking irresponsible? Because condoms don't feel good?

Were you raped? High risk pregnancy?

It is not a political position, that is your first mistake. It is fricking moral/ethical.

Does that include the unborn child being literally torn into pieces by mommy and her abortionist?

It apparently is a political position, since so many politicians are against it.

I’m against abortion because it’s wrong. But I am fine with tolerating legal abortion in America.

Also, there's the abortion ban bill in the Ohio state legislature, so I'm pretty sure this is also political.

Then why do so many of you who say this only care about abortion? What if I wanted to make a nice hefty sum of money by selling a kidney to help someone dying? Guess what...I can't...that's actually illegal. My body, my choice right? Wrong! So why is it only abortion that gets the special mention? Maybe it's because the act of abortion is a sacred cow to some and the "my body, my choice" mantra is just a lazy and convenient excuse when it really is all about abortion specifically and exclusively.

You're free to donate your organs to whomever you want. People don't have abortions to make money like you're talking about.

If abortion wasn't a political topic, at least half of people wouldn't care about it.

I think there's a pretty good scientific argument that life begins at conception.

At conception, you have cells growing and dividing- an essential function of life. You cannot have life without a group of cells growing and dividing.
ETA: Every human alive today started as a single cell growing and dividing.

If agreed, the group of cells are human. They are not going to turn into any other form of life.

Therefore, I believe it is a life and a human life.

I think ending a human life for the sake of ending human life is wrong.

I am also against the death penalty for this reason as well.

In both cases, when the life poses a threat to other life, case-by-case arguments can be made. They are not the norm, and essentially none of these points apply.

ETA2:
I also think an argument could be made for implantation. I do not particularly like this one, but using this argument is a lot easier for the sake of legislation. All humans also successfully implanted as a group of growing, dividing cells, etc.
The previous definition would make it quite difficult for several forms of contraception to remain legal- many low-dose pills allow for ovulation and fertilization but prevent implantation. Plan B prevents implantation. Some IUDs as well, etc.
