I grew up in South Texas, 50 miles from the border. Our property had "No Trespassing-Violators will be Prosecuted!" signs around the entire perimeter, this covered about 400+ acres.................so if these 'migrants', so to speak, come onto your property and you feel threatened or threaten you, and you have posted signs, do any of you feel it's time to defend yourself, your family, and your property?

See above.

Abbott is at ground zero, Tucker has a nice little desk to talk shite from.
One is the elected official who's job it is to perform these duties. One is a journalist.
Should Tucker be handing out lawful orders to the Texas National Guard, installing razor wire himself, etc? What exactly is it you think he ought to be doing instead?

Send some Texas Rangers to arrest Mayorkas and Garland

As far as taking the matter into your own hands to defend your property rather than just calling the police or sheriff, you could probably use "force" under Section 9.41, but not "deadly force" under Section 9.42.

Abbott is doing everything he can, within the law at a federal border.
Tucker is doing everything he can behind a safe desk to have people watch or listen to him.
I expect Abbott to continue what he's doing.
I expect Tucker to talk shite behind his desk about politicians.

Texas needs to up the pressure and rumblings of secession are not out of line imo as the fed has failed to uphold its constitutional responsibilities and in this case is actively undermining the union.

And as the Arizona case shows, federal courts don’t allow a state to step up in the absence of action by the Feds.
So if the Feds are abdicating their responsibilities to the state, why should the state stay in the union?

They need to be arrested, brought before a local hanging judge, and held without bail for a trial in 2025.
THIS.

If the Feds are not fulfilling that role in a way that suits Texas, it is not unreasonable to ask whether Texas should remain a part of that federal system, especially since Texas bears a disproportionate share of the costs (monetary and otherwise) that arise from that failure.
About 40 years ago, I read a SciFi-type book about Texas seceding because it did not like how the Feds were dealing with foreign policy, there the USSR. The Ayes of Texas, by Daniel da Cruz

Couldnt abbot have just put the national guard at the border?
quote:
“With the ending of Title 42 on Thursday, President Biden is laying down the welcome mat to people across the entire world, but Texas is deploying our new Texas Tactical Border Force,” said Governor Abbott. “The Texas National Guard is loading Blackhawk helicopters and C-130s and deploying specially trained soldiers for the Texas Tactical Border Force, who will be deployed to hotspots all along the border to help intercept and repel large groups of migrants trying to enter Texas illegally. The Texas Tactical Border Force will bolster our Operation Lone Star efforts to secure the Texas border amid the chaos caused by President Biden’s elimination of Title 42.”

quote:
Texas taxpayers have spent $4.5 billion on Gov. Greg Abbott’s border crackdown initiative known as Operation Lone Star since it began in the spring of 2021, and lawmakers recently agreed to spend billions more in the next two years. One reason the operation is so expensive is the deployment of more than 5,000 National Guard troops to the border. Several have died by suicide after being uprooted from their jobs and families and posted at the border for months on end, and the Texas Military Department, which is in charge of the National Guard in the state, has struggled to ensure they’ve been adequately paid.

If the GOP were serious about the border and not just pandering, they’d have impeached Mayorkas for the border issue already.
It’s an open and shut case of refusing to perform the duties of his office.

At least someone is standing up for border control.
