They both have that condescending, Colin Cowherd, "smart people agree with me" shtick that gets old fast.

And what does that do? What would happen next? You would have enough to vote if the were removed?

They are not buying a jet. They are chartering it. When you book a ticket on an airline, do you tell people you are flying on a $40m plane?

Too bad it didn't hit a low flying helo piloted by a lesbian activist on the way in.

I assume the governor appoints someone to replace them, immediately

I don’t understand what you are arguing about…

If they spent 40m on airfare to flee from their duties and used campaign dollars to pay for it, they are just as guilty as individually spending $500 a piece for United Airlines tickets.

The scale of 40m, if true, looks a lot worse and will be a lot harder to deflect if they used contributions to pay for it. Doubt they are going to come up with a million a piece out of their own pockets if questioned on it.

They did not spend $40m on airfare. Read the tweet again, which says that it costs "tens of thousands" to charter it per hour. It's really around $15k, and divide that by 50 people, it's not much more than just flying commercial.

I bring it up because we should call out this level of gaslighting bullshite. The legacy news has done this to us for a long time, and we are only hypocrites if we are ok with it as long as it makes the side we support look good. And guess what, most commercial airplanes cost about $40 million too. The tweet is intentionally deceptive.

If he wants to Abbot can even wheel down the street and appoint anyone he runs into to fill the vacancy. Kind of like some judges have the power to send the sheriff out to scrounge up a jury.

Gaslighting is when you tell someone not to believe their own eyes and ears. Giving an accurate value for a plane is not gaslighting even in the loosest sense of the word.

It's not hypocritical to point out how the climate change party is flying in luxury to avoid their constitutional duties when they could have chartered a bus.

Fair. My point was that the number was thrown out there to trick the reader. So, deception would have been a better word.

Nowhere in that tweet does it imply anything about that, and they missed a prime opportunity to do it. If they wanted to highlight the environmentalists' hypocrisy, they would have mentioned something about fuel burned, not the cost of the trip or the plane. That was obviously meant to influence voters / taxpayers, and the tweet was explicit about that.

Worked up? Ok, baw. Are you "worked up" any time you comment on anything that you find weird?

Third party observer here. "Worked up" is an accurate description given your repeated posts about it.

Why note the cost of the plane? It's not rocket science, it's politics. "Hey fellow Texans, while you're out there this morning working your arse off to make ends meet, these out-of-touch dem elitists are blowing off work and galavanting around the country in a $40million dollar private jet instead of doing their damn job!"

Dems have done this "flee the state" crap several times before and never faced any blowback. Finally we have a governor who will fight fire with fire. That upsets you?

"Repeated" implies that I'm not responding to anyone. If you respond to me with some bullshite, I will respond also. Saying someone is "worked up" because they responded to something you posted is a weak insult that has no legs.

You know a commercial airplane costs the same or more? Why not point that out when they are flying commercial for things too?

No? I never implied it did upset me. I'm fine with what Abbott is doing. I've voted for him multiple times and I would again. He's been great for Texas.
