I'm not exactly happy about it, but there are so, so many other things worth bitching about.

Honest question: did trump ever say he intended to overturn gay marriage? My gay friends have been absolutely losing it on fb, more so than any other group. I told them to show me where he planned to overturn it and they keep pointing to Pence. I mentioned trump has been for gay marriage longer than Hilary has been "for" it. Please inform me on something I may be missing.

Well, your mistake was trying to have a rational discussion with liberals. That's just not possible.

I do NOT want to see churches or preachers forced to marry gay people. i also don't want to see anyone with a religious conviction made to do something for a ceremony or reception between the two that goes against their religious convictions. Other than that, do what you will. There are countless people more than willing to provide services. Don't force it on people to choose between their committment to God or else.

MAGA should completely and utterly abandon any opposition to gay marriage. First and foremost its ridiculous for the feds to be involved in it and further, its a really bad political position.

Only issue is that some groups have shown interest in going after religious institutions that don't endorse the homosexual lifestyle.

As long as they don't insist that they should be allowed to marry in the Catholic Church then I don't care.

I agree with Obama's position in 2008. Marriage is between one man and one woman.

ETA: well, the Bible says it. I prefer not to disobey.

I finally told one to "cheer up, buttercup" as he was into day three of his meltdown. He told me to "frick off you ignorant piece of shite."

Second time I was told to F off since the election. The other one called me an ignorant 50s housewife (despite not being a housewife) that resembled an STD.

No. Government shouldn't be in tbat business anyway. But, if government is used to meddle, equal protection under the law means just that.

Libs trying to keep races separate started that shite, and religious folk kept it up for benefits and incentives. Get rid of it.

ETA: it's been mentioned, but this also means that nobody, including churches, bakers, photographers, or anybody who doesn't want to participate cannot be forced to.

100% against it because it's a tool to limit religious liberties as it has already proven to be the case.

Anybody that supports the constitution should also be against it.

1. Dont care
2. this is a state issue, not a federal one

if this "social issue" is so damn important to you, move to a state/community where it's legal. If you're violently opposed to it, move to a state/community where it's not legal

If you cant relocate due to financial reasons (job), then decide whats more important to you - perceived social justice, or putting food on your table. You cant always have everything all the time, sometimes life is just unfair, and you have to compromise.

I lived almost 20 years in a fairly liberal area, and moved to a very liberal area. And I fricking hate liberls, but, because money

I would love to see a country where all "social issues" were dropped down to a state level, and the fed were only concerned about big economy stuff, keeping the people safe, keeping the street lights on, and the water running

A. I don't really want anyone forcing their religious beliefs on me through any laws. So I'm not gonna force any of my religious belief on anyone else either.

As long as I am not forced to marry another man I could not care less about about gay marriage.

This comes from fear mongering about Pence. A facebook meme stated that he wanted to create camps using shock therapy to take the gay out.

He never said that and what he did say was referring to providing federal funds to help those that wanted to be helped (struggling with being gay). There was nothing about mandatory reprogramming camps or shock therapy.

That doesn't matter in today's world though. Pence is no doubt going to have to tilt on the gay issue but VPs are useless anyway and Congress isn't going to pass laws that take away rights. It's just not going to happen.

Had it been decided on a state by state basis, this never would have been an issue.

The problem here is a rogue SCOTUS.

I'm a republican & catholic and I can 100% say that I do not care if gays marry. Random gay people getting married has no impact on my life.
I guess more than anything is they want to be treated equal, like everyone else. I do not care if a random man & woman get married. I don't want to hear about it. So equal to me is, get married and stop talking about it.

I think gays should be able to get married. 100%.

However.....

Businesses should not be forced to cater to them. (that doesn't just apply to gays). The government also shouldn't get involved in bathroom stuff. Leave that to the actual businesses and states.

I am for gay marriage. As an Episcopalian we are accepting of such things.

I think a lot of people on both sides of the fence are heading down the path of Socially Liberal and Fiscally Conservative.

100 % agree. People can be whoever they want to be, but don't expect a pat on the back for it. Im a big believer in keeping social lives and business separate. This avoids all kinds dumb obstacles that arise in a workplace.
