America will never be socialist. People will never give up their guns without a fight
And that is exactly why the Socialist Dems opened the Border and subsidized the importation of various violent and experienced ideological and religious warriors. They watched that Video that we debated of few years back "Why the Right will win the coming Civil War"...and they strategically addressed it. Guns do nothing more than to increase the intensity and carnage in a revolution/infrastructure collapse scenario. The Left is betting that the Right won't pull the trigger, albeit from the Transnational Progressive POV, the US Constitutional Republic has to go via "whatever it takes". A culling of the independent-minded genetic peoples fits right in with the narrative of De-population.

You aren't taking into account that if the military turns on its own people, it will be crippled by desertion
I certainly considered this, but I fear that desertion from the active ranks wouldn't be what we'd like to believe. A 10% desertion rate among active duty members of the military would, in my opinion, be extremely high. National Guard units would more than likely remain loyal to their respective states, but the funding isn't there for protracted, sustained actions.
Certainly there would be a contingent of trained military personnel who would support the Constitution over their superiors' orders, but how many, and where would their logistical lines of supply come from? Munitions, fuels, equipment, repair parts would all be in extremely short supply for those who do not have the reserves the federal government currently has.
Always expect and plan for the worst case scenario so you avoid unpleasant surprises and faltering morale.
eta: I know there are several members of our military (enlisted, NCO's, as well as company grade and field grade officers) who are a part of an unofficial group colloquially known as "Oath Keepers." But when the sh!t hits the fan, will their actions be in accordance with their "oath" or will they falter when they stare the dragon in the face? This is a real question of resolve and it's hard to gauge until you're actually staring into the abyss.

Easy to say when it's not happening. When your job is on the line and or life.
“I need this job to provide for my family, but I’m likely to get killed doing this, so frick that.”
Just last week, a Lafayette PD SWAT officer was killed and a couple wounded in a shootout with a murder suspect in Jeanerette at a home.
Imagine this happening every day. The cops would quickly quit or refuse orders.

Then what?
Poverty and immiseration. But that's not the point, which is that real socialism is communism without the bizarre idea that the government will wither away.

America will be a socialist country in 10 years.
It's more likely that the US doesn't exist at all in 10 years. Regardless of who wins, we're going to enter another 4 year term where absolutely nothing gets solved. Gov't inaction is going to catch up to us eventually and we're going on 20 years of it.
Spending is out of control, our economy barely even actually exists at this point, the deficit is increasing exponentially, we can't afford our own programs that pols refuse to reform, 80% of tangible spending ends up being kickbacks, etc. All of this while the only thing the gov't can agree on is endless funding of a war that means nothing to us, and has been over for like 3 years now.
They live for the 2-year term and it's going to kill us at some point

For what it's worth, the misuse of "socialism" in this context originated almost exclusively from the left. Idk why socialism is better sounding than welfarism to them, but they're the ones responsible.

Dems are stupid...but not that stupid. They have demographics going forward, an army of willing academia, media, bureaucracy and brainwashed losers willing to cheat. If Trump wins, they will wage their daily information war, wait patiently and probably have a nauseatingly good chance with Gavin Newsome in 2028

Unless "the cops" are on a suicide mission, this will never happen. They will be the first ones to tell the government to go frick themselves.

A hot civil war is on the horizon. At this point, any arguable scenario appears to be a Morton's Fork. A digital WWIII has already begun and a cold civil war has been happening in the US since Hussein Soerto's second term. Won't honestly take much to make either go very hot, very quickly.
I kind of agree with you ... it's just that it may not be that close to the horizon.
It's going to happen, inevitably, because of the deep state and unelected fricktard bureaucrats taking over our everyday lives. But ... what will set it off, I dunno.
I suspect there will either be an assassination or a societal set-back event OR, even more likely, they'll do a no-knock kill attempt on the wrong door and it'll backfire on them.
Eventually, we the people will have had enough.
Won't be my generation or me. We may go down fighting but we won't be the ones triggering it. We're too old. It'll be a younger generation that suddenly realizes that they don't want to go through life being sheople people.

Don’t watch that crap. It was produced by Barry Hussein. Liberal propaganda is all that is.

By time we reach that boiling point, a number of states will have told the federal government to frick off and seceded. The National Guards of those respective states will be on the state's side. The fight won't be one sided, with only one side having a highly trained fighting force and the other side having a bunch of baws.
The biggest advantage the feds would have is WMDs, and will they be able to use them?
Great take.
Also, if they thought fighting in the streets of Iraq was scary and difficult imagine doing that in Houston or Dallas. There are SOOO many more guns on the streets in the US. Pretty much anyone can walk out of their job right now and find a firearm today if need be and use it.
Street fighting and kicking doors is not going to interest any soldier in any military. They would bail.
