I enjoy talking to her and can agree there.

Your post was still irrational for a multitude of reasons. Hell I had to tell her to stop fricking with me just to keep our conversation viable.

That could be true but no one here advocates for communism.

Not quite an answer. You equate borders and immigration processes and laws and procedural rules with "because I said so"?

The simple fact is that in no organization does one set up limits and rules and precedent and then flourish because they let all those things slide for anyone who disregards them so long as they aren't a monster.

It's silly, and you guys know it's silly.

Power, this is what she’s doing.

Now ask yourself if your post to her was rational.

What are some things you’d like to see from the right during this deportation mission?

It was pitched as deporting violent criminals. The day after ICE got to New Orleans, 150 kids were absent from my kids school. We can reasonably conclude their parents aren’t all violent criminals.

Securing the borders has been accomplished. I would like to see an option other than deportation for undocumented people who are here and are abiding by laws and are contributing to society.

When I asked why the poster wanted to see “illegals” removed and the response was “Trump won the election,” what conclusion did you expect me to draw?

The poster didn’t say anything about immigration laws or procedural rules.

I wasn't even attempting to make the point that the right isn't authoritarian. I don't think it is, but that wasn't the point.

But if we're pitting "commies" vs "authoritarian crackdown" I don't think that really accurately portrays the part where commies are also authoritarians that punish dissent and utilize both mob and state violence.

But we can assume they were all absent because their parents were deported?

Any criminal illegal should be deported. Violent or not. The rest should self deport and get in line with actual law abiding people

You just went on to say you want some option for those here illegally to stay because they're good/nice/etc.

So regardless, the same applies. "Just let it go this time and next time we'll enforce the rules, promise."

Make the case for why conservatives should hop on board with that Lucy football scenario?

Of course not. There weren’t that many arrests. I assume they were absent because their parents were afraid the kids would get picked up or the parents would get picked up bringing them to school.

That it needed to be said is embarrassingly pathetic on your part.

FYI

No one discussing this topic in good faith uses that dishonest propaganda term.

When it's so left wing insane that the AP doesn't allow it to be used on their wire, you should know you need to abandon it.

If I was in Australia illegally I would worry daily about being picked up and deported.

It’s part of the deal. No?

Interestingly, we make them serve their sentences in the US before deportation (or at least we used to, that could have changed).

I believe the overall pitch was them first. Although I recognize that there was definitely some bad faith messaging out there, possibly even from the admin itself, that painted it as mostly criminals. I think there was enough out there to fully realize it was all of them, though. I certainly took it as all of them.

Of course. Odds would say a sample of 150 students don’t have many violent criminal parents.

And how do you think a Democrat opening it back up should be handled? If the left does that to us again, what would you be ok with the right doing in response?

Let’s talk

In this hypothetical, I would like for the ones we let stay to be pretty damn close to self sufficient. Is that something you could get behind? This invariably means that a family fully on the take and illegal would be deported.

Logically, if the argument for the removal of immigrants here without permission is that they are a drain on our resources— if we know someone who is already here is not a drain on our resources, draining our resources to deport them doesn’t make sense.
