Can’t wait until AOC’s political appointees at the EPA confirm that global warming is, in fact, a national emergency

I have repeatedly said that he needs to stick to his word in three weeks or lose my support. He may get his wall built this way and that would be great. I'd fully support using the shutdown and the SOTU to sell it.

I will not support using the military to enact a highly contested campaign promise

I'm allowed to criticize the president. He's not above criticism.

All of you blind lock step followers sicken me. You're literally no better than the dems who refused to criticize Obama. Stop sinking to the level of the left. Rise above that and be better.

I’ve seen this example. Let’s say it happens.

Walk it through in a practical manner. What does that mean practically?

Declaring a national emergency to secure our borders does not violate the constitution.

It absolutely is. And it needs to be fixed. But the president using the military and a national emergency to carry out a campaign promise is a gross overreach and perversion of his power.

Again, I certainly see your point. But what do we do when in 3 weeks Pelosi and Co. don’t come to the table and we’re back in the same spot?

I’m not a fan of governance by fiat. However, the President’s main job is to be the Commander-in-Chief of our military. He (and I also) see a massive weak spot and gap in our defenses (border) and if he has to declare a national emergency in order to hem those defenses up, I say let him. I do not think that him declaring a national emergency for something that clearly is a national emergency is a bad thing. The military is for our national defense, we should be defending our lines. Who do you think would go to the border should we be actually attacked?

He’s been willing to do this legislatively but they are simply not willing to play ball. He’s got another option, I say use it.

unilateral carbon tax and seizure of the funds of coal companies.

It pretty much means whatever she wants. The powers granted are massive and wide-ranging.

You guys are thinking checkers, not chess on this one.

But the mid-term elections were the most recent mandate from the People. You can’t say he gets to carry out his 2016 mandate with acknowledging that two years in, the electorate said “let’s rethink this.”

And then use the military to shut down oil and gas and seize their assets.

Put in place a massive carbon tax. Use the military to collect.

Which creates a fuel national emergency.

And the use the military to distribute fuel and control highways.

Good thing congress has already given the executive branch the authority to declare national emergencies.

So the other 42 times a President declared a National Emergency to carry out his political agenda set no precedence but this will make us Nazis... got it

So you characterize declaring national emergencies for funding hurricane disasters in the same light as declaring a national emergency to build a border wall?

You sure that was just 42 Hurricanes.(it wasn't)

I've never understood this sentiment. It's as if a person has no choice but to blindly support everything their guy wants. I thought only liberals did this?

Which would be unconstitutional.

Securing our border is not unconstitutional.

You see the difference?

Use the constitution and the law as your standard.

That's literally how our government works. You don't get to subvert that because you want to.

The people on the right saying Trump should declare a national emergency and use the military to circumvent congress opposition to his political platform is literally at stupid and dangerous as the people on the left calling for an end to the Electoral College.

I just don't get the whole muh precedent shite in 2019. The dems have proven time and again that they will do anything and everything to gain power and further their socialist agenda. Being principled won't mean shite when they officially tear the constitution to pieces and remove any chance of repairing it.

Why in the hell would you want to set the precedent for the next Dem president to use a national emergency and the military to carry out his political agenda?

Why the Hell do people hold on to the silly notion thatdemocrats care about "precedent"? They will do whatever they want and come up with a bullshite reason to justify.

Oh, let's wring our hands and don't do the nuclear option because we don't want the democrats to use it! - every fricking Republican circa 2002-to the time Harry Reid did anyway

What makes you think the Left will wait for precedent? BHO started with his pen and EO’s. FDR tried stacking the court, just as current 2020 Dem Presidential hopefuls are already suggesting. This fight has already begun and it didn’t start with Trump.

Ding ding ding

The Dems are mad Trump is fighting back
