I don't think opposing views are really silenced. I do think engagement/accountability is really weak due to the generally uniform nature of the board and people hearing what they want and then immediately disconnecting when shown something they believe is false.
Example:
Someone can post something that is fake or misleading and would be immediately suspicious to most people, and get immediate likes and upvotes. A few people raising questions initially are called idiots, etc. Someone posts definitive proof that the OP is false. It's gets a mix of upvotes and downvotes despite it being definitive. Then there are 3 more pages of people rallying to the OP before enough people start redirecting back to the definitive proof, then the thread drops like a stone and we never hear about it again. There is no discussion about how people got so easily duped or what all the posts based on the OP should mean considering the premise was false.
