And now many think Marco Rubio will be the future of the GOP.

What has changed?

All basically Democrats.

Worse than Democrats in reality.

And there are many who are crying for a return to that “normalcy”

He won’t.

Irresponsible spending hasn’t changed. The Republican Party has not been fiscally conservative since the mid 1990s and Newt.

But forever wars have changed. I’ve been well known to be opposed to this iran misadventure from the beginning but iran is in fact not Iraq or Afghanistan. Iran is over. We’re done. It’s a failure, but at least it’s done. At least it’s not a 20 year failure.

And the vast majority, save a few old guard believers, actually oppose illegal immigration now.

I've said this before, look at where we were w/o him. He's not perfect but w/o him the dems would've been in charge about 20 years straight, he won't get credit but he absolutely saved the country, at least for now

I'd argue it never truly has been. America has run on debt my entire life and I pre-date Newt's time by a number of years.

I hope you're correct, but Trump has a hard time admitting he fricked up.

Trump ran on that. It remains to be seen how that translates post-Trump. I suspect the GOP - on the whole - is still on board the "comprehensive immigration reform" - aka indentured labor - bandwagon once he's out.

That’s fair. At least Newt forced Bill to agree to balance the budget, something he promised and delivered. Not perfect, because there were tax increases, but at least he applied some semblance of fiscal responsibility.

Yea, he never admits it. He just changes course and moves forward like it never happened. Hopefully he continues that here.

Agreed. We must remain vigilant and hold Republican feet to the fire.

It didn't start in 2012. Take a gander at who we ran against Clinton in 1996. If you ever had any doubt about a uniparty, the Republican nominees for 1996 and 2012 should help you make up your mind.

I believe the only reason Rubio has a spone right now is because Trump has his back, litterally and figurativly. I do not believe he will keep it if he becomes POTUS. Possibly he will keep it if it is a Vance Rubio ticket but i am not yet sold.

Thank you for pointing out exactly why I wasn’t a republican in 2012. I hated those people then, and still hate them now. I only changed my registration to republican so I could caucus for Ron Paul.
