I’m 25 years old and about half a year into my first ‘real job’ after college and graduate school that I’m slowly but surely paying off. So que the “welcome to the real world” comments, I get it.

I did the math this afternoon, and I’m taxed a very big portion of my yearly salary. That’s to be expected, but surely you’d get something in return, right? Wrong, you will pay your dues (to others who don’t do shite with their lives but take from others) and be told your demographic is the problem with America while the powers that be piss away your hard earned money to advance their reach and power. All the while paying $4/gallon for gas and $1500 for rent, and it still being the better option than buying a house.

Is this what they mean when they said “the real world”?

I’ve always voted R down the line and the same can’t be said for a lot of the people my age, but the ones I associate with are starting to wake up. Hopefully the pendulum swings hard and fast.

Your demographic isn’t the problem. It’s the boomers. Too big relatively speaking. That coupled with the government policies and labor shortage make it worse. Sorry bro. Keep your head down.

I hope so as well, however, my experience with your age group doesn’t give me much hope. They seem to be all in on identity politics. As such, they aren’t awake, they are just “Woke.”

You’re right but I think the one silver lining of this administration is that people my age are realizing just how blatantly stupid/evil the dems are.

Yes. That we "allow" government to take 40% of our income is frankly ridiculous. The good news for you is that you are better than your contemporaries. Stay the course, and you'll be better off than they are.

Welcome to the party pal.

A vast majority of my age group from what I can tell just want to be left the frick alone. Be called what you want, do what you want in the bedroom, just leave us the frick alone. But then again, a lot of them vote based off of who’s Twitter is the less annoying. Hopefully we see a change in their thinking after the current chaos that we are in

The fact that you have this attitude puts you ahead of the shitbrains that think leaning into the victimhood identity politics of the day is the way to get ahead.

Hard work and living below your means as much as possible when possible (I know that seems tough right now) is really the best course of action.

I would suggest they vote based on tweets from Lebron etc.

It is sad (and terrifying) to see the impact Twitter etc. has on people (especially those under 30). Just my .02.

To say the least. It’s beyond ridiculous. Our forefathers are rolling over in their graves. It would be different if I was actually benefitting in any way from it, but I’m not. I’m paying for a service that’s calling me a fascist threat to America and not getting anything from it

Well said. I’m 28 and bought a house when I was 25. I the value has almost doubled from what i bought it for so I don’t blame you for renting.

I think my friends are begrudgingly seeing what I warned them about in 2015 when Hillary was on the ballot. Just keep plugging away and paying off debt. Losers will lose. Winners will win, and America will always be free. FJB.

Also $4 a gallon sounds nice to me… Relatively nice. Should be 2

It’s an echo chamber. Truly terrible for democracy. You can follow/see who or what you want to see, and then anyone else who has an opposing opinion is considered the enemy

Don't do the actual math, 40% is generous. Add up, income taxes, payroll taxes (both sides) fuel taxes, sales taxes, property taxes, registration fees, corporate taxes passed on to consumers, fishing license, drivers license, etc. etc. and you are losing way more than 50% to the government. The R's aren't fixing it either, not since Coolidge have we had a responsible president.

Based on your echo chamber that’s formed by an algorithm designed to make someone else rich.

Your generation is head deep in progressive idealism, and it’s not getting any better.

Can’t be said enough. Lucky for me I was raised by my grandfather who survived a Great Depression and served in the worst war to ever occur on this planet. He taught me the importance of saving and I definitely live by the things he taught me, but when I think about the big picture of one day having a wife and kids that I’d like to provide for it really gets worrisome/infuriating
