Funny enough the heavy crude from Venezuela is very similar in profile to that from Alberta...
Not only does it mean we have more access, we now also have a direct replacement of Canadian heavy crude that may actually be cheaper...

We should take resources from any country who screws us, like by sending a bunch of criminals to our shores.

If true that must mean even at these high prices, the demand curve has not flattened. That means while people are bitching about high prices their behavior is not changing. Sort of kills the affordability argument.

If it were up to DC Democrats, Maduro would still be in power, Venezuelan oil would be going to China at half price, and the people of Venezuela would be getting robbed by a corrupt regime.
Instead, this historic deal benefits both countries for generations!

This is doing nothing for the national debt, and it is not a gift. The US is providing services, and for those services we are getting payments. There is no gift giving here. It’s important strategically because it does give the US a little more control over that oil, but whether it is a good deal financially, there has not been enough information released yet to know.

I mean it's an essential good, they're going to pay for it because they have to commute etc. But that affects other areas of spending.
Spending more on gas = less $ available for other essentials. It's why the average person is running around collecting debt on credit cards like never before and delinquencies are higher. It's not good.

It’s essential to a point, but there’s a lot of optional driving that goes on that if people were really worried about it you would see a decrease in the demand curve. There hasn’t been any decrease.

Then again, it's called a holiday weekend and it happens every year. Oh well, In 25 more years, the 'surge' pricing will be unbelievable compared to today.

Almost all of the National Debt is owed to ourselves Only around 25% of our debt is held by other countries.
