According to my wife, feminism is a waste of time. Doesn't agree with it, thinks it isn't relevant today.

Do other women agree?

Feminism has become a placeholder term for a whole host of insecurities men have towards women. What particularly does your wife think is a waste of time?

Feminism is a joke. There is absolutely nothing that a man has a right to do in this country that a woman is denied.

There are still a few fights to be had but they are long term battles that women are actually gaining ground in - education, positions of power, etc. However, most women agree that “feminism” has been highjacked from giving women choices to making choices for women. It’s laughable.

Feminism is an odd concept to me considering women control goddam everything in the world already.

Which feminist theory? 1960s feminism was awesome. It sought independence and bettering of the individual. New waves of feminism teach dependence and seek to fring Don masculinity instead of promoting womanhood.

She has more important things to deal with. I think alot of feminist are pissed off because they have been hurt. That's not her. She has never let anyone mistreat her so she has nothing to be hurt about.

I support strong independent women, but that's now what modern feminism is about

Truth sister.

OP - your wife is right. I love my country and the man in my life. I have nothing in common with women that call themselves feminists. I prefer to make my own decisions, about my life, my job, my family. Too many Feminists (leftists in lipstick) want to do as all leftists do - CONTROL EVERYTHING.

A feminism is a movement of weak, worthless women claiming they're strong because they feel self-conscious about themselves.

The real strong women in this world are the ones who dont need to call themselves feminists to feel strong.

4th wave is all about telling women what to think. It's Marxist ideology.

The conversation came from me asking her if she had celebrated international women's day.

She didn't even know what I was talking about!

The whole "I need feminism because..." movement epitomizes the fallacies of 4th wave. The are trying to make women dependent, not independent.

Strong, independent women are raised, not legislated. We have several generations of women in the workforce now who have all been empowered from birth. The collective expectations of women are so far forward of where they were 50 years ago...

Feminism has come full circle to being restrictive of what’s socially acceptable for a woman. Think about that. Feminism is stripping women of their independence by tying us to their chosen socially accepted norms. That’s worse than being kept down by “the man” bc they aren’t even paying my bills.

I do too. The term feminism has morphed over the years and there’s the various waves etc. A lot of people just lump it all together and say feminism=bad which is simplistic to the point of being meaningless.

I agree with this.

I've always been impressed with independent women but feminism abandoned that a long time ago.

I'll pull for a lady who can make her own way and doesn't need someone supporting her to feel secure.

Yes, most do, as most women do not identify as feminists. They know.
