JD Vance DIRECTLY called for this just days ago while in Missouri: "When you have courts that say that Missouri is not allowed to draw its districts the way that it would like to, but certain blue states are, what that means is that those courts are saying that the votes of a Missouri Republican or a Missouri Independent count less than a Massachusetts Democrat."
"You could have people who are going in the general election and casting ballots in districts that are different than the ballots that they cast just a couple of months ago in the primary. That, to me, is an affront to the democratic process."
This will likely be appealed again up to the US Supreme Court, but time is running VERY short, so in all likelihood, the new maps are GOOD TO GO.

Missouri has a law that says a petition can force a referendum on any passed assembly bills.
Those signatures were submitted to the SoS last year, he then sat on the issue until the day of the primary until, where his reason to deny the petition was on legal grounds and not of sufficiency of signatures grounds.
