I know the attacker. He was on his way to his first day at trade school. If we can get him into a good diversion program, he can beat up three or four more grandmas before we need to sentence him to any jail time.

I think the first thing we need to remember is that bail shouldn’t be punitive. This guy needs to rob a bunch of people before his trial in two years.

you do that to an 85 yr old woman you won't be reformed.
Probations for minors and 5, 10, and 20 year sentences for killing others is not enough; that is not justice.
We need more punitive sentencing and less "rehabilitation", IMO.
