My view is that the people cynically supporting this war know, and always knew, that Russian subjugation was the end state either way. Or, at least, Russian gains of some territory from what's currently Ukraine.

The intelligence leaks tend to suggest that this view is right, and that the "freedom fighter"/ "stand with Ukraine" crap was just a smokescreen so we could kill some Russians (and the cost of killing substantially more Ukrainians) and test out a bunch of our cool weaponry.

So, yeah, the better option would have been to get to the end state without killing tens of thousands of Ukrainians and destroying the infrastructure of Ukraine. After this war, the only way Ukraine is going to survive is going to be with massive further spending from US. And that's the better scenario (for them), the worse one is we just leave and frick them over like Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

So immediate capitulation… which other countries should immediately capitulate when their aggressive neighbor invades? Poland? Taiwan?

Have a hard time believing this and the fact that they haven’t overrun Ukraine.

There’s something missing to explain that.

They're not trying to genocide Ukrainians and if we hadn't dumped in all the military hardware we could muster the Russians would have much preferred to grab some land, grab some people who are Russian-friendly, and redraw the borders, without slaughtering a bunch of Ukrainians.

Which is why they came in from the north immediately for Kiev??

If they wanted a land grab and to leave a smaller Ukrainian state, they come from the south through their vassal states.

This was them going for the jugular in Kiev early on. Kudos to you for being one of the few here to acknowledge it’s an illegal war of aggression, but be totally honest in this wasn’t chiseling out a few extra kilometers. This was an attempt at a complete absorption and takeover.

So I shouldn't believe the Russians when they broadcast this in their county? On a daily basis.

a war of conquest, it's illegal under international law

Surely the USA has normalized this with precedent after all the invasions we have done. And still no war crimes. International law must be a complete sham.

Boosie shitting all over this thread with his leftist drivel. Don't waste your time trying to argue with him. He's probably jacking off all over his keyboard to all the downvotes.

I’m trying to find why Ukraine is different than Poland or Taiwan or Hungary if Austria feels froggy…

We either sit back and allow the third biggest power in earth to invade and swallow up smaller countries or we don’t? I can certainly see why it is in America’s best interest to degrade an aspirational hegemon, especially if we can do it without losing American lives.

I’m legitimately trying to learn why a bunch of red-blooded, American Patriots are openly cheering for the Russians to win their war of aggression against a smaller neighbor.

I don’t recall any of our invasions in recent memory where we tried to take the land from countries or purposely tried to kill civilians. Unlike what Russia is doing

It didn’t start with Russia invading.
Russia invading is a reaction to our awful foreign policy.

Of encouraging Ukraine to join the West?

So what type of non-violent, geopolitical social and economic cooperation between two states justifies an aggressive invasion from a third-party belligerent?

If the ratio was close to that lopsided Russia would have been in Kyiv a long time ago. Yet they can’t even pass through fuxking Bakhmut. Maybe y’all should storm Area 51 or your local pizza parlor to show your outrage.

7 Ukrainians killed per 1 Russian. Reported on Tucker.

It would be nice if he could produce a doc. The discord idiot’s docs indicated quite the opposite:

quote:

Much of the information in the documents tracks with public disclosures officials have made but in many cases contains more detail. One document reports the Russians have suffered 189,500 to 223,000 casualties, including up to 43,000 killed in action. American officials have previously estimated Russian losses at about 200,000 soldiers. While American officials are more circumspect in describing Ukrainian losses, they have said there have been about 100,000. The leaked document says that as of February, Ukraine had suffered 124,500 to 131,000 casualties, with up to 17,500 killed in action.
