5k troops in DC until at least March

25k, drawing down to 12k, then anticipating 5k until March.
Watching the press conference w DC NG, NG commander and commander have these troops expecting "events".

Did the NG protect the average citizens caught up in the riots last summer? Did they protect the businesses that citizens had worked so hard to build up?

I believe they're drawing it out in order to wake people up to what has happened rather than swoop in and arrest everyone right away. I believe it's being done this way to minimize violence in the streets.
Which means they're likely telling Biden explicitly to sign all of these outrageous EOs. They're wanting him to piss everyone off and it's working. That way, when they do swoop in most people will say "thank God!" instead of "Literally Hitler!!"
