Definitely they weren’t as smart as you,

With Trump it has nothing to do with intelligence. It has to do with stubbornness and narcissism.

You also realize you're making this claim about everyone surrounding him too, right?

That you're somehow smarter and more plugged-in than the likes of Scott Bessent, who is in charge of the entire US Treasury.

An alcoholic with a tour guide job in Alaska has all these professional financial masters beat? People with actual acclaim and accomplishments on a global scale?

Nah... It's just your TDS meltdown continuing. Somehow everyone can see it but you, which makes you the opposite of intelligent.

25 sniveling bitches downvoted this while they were in the corner watching their wives (or boyfriends) get plowed by real men.

Amazing, such pussies.

A) it’s just taking their 2024 US exports x 30% tariff rate, kept it extremely vanilla.

B) we don’t know what we collected from them in 2024 in actual tariffs because it wasn’t announced by the US govt that I could find.

But apparently per the actual Chinese trade negotiators they just stopped following the trade deals around 2022 because they decided Biden wouldn’t do anything about it so there’s that as a factor as well.

What we do know is that as we only collected $80B globally in all of 2024 and that this deal, assuming 2024 trade volume would would result in 2-2.5x that number without any other tariffs coming into play so it’s obviously a massive increase.
OK, yes, so if they pay, that's something. How does that impact the other much more relevant considerations in our relationship with them? Financially, it's nice but irrelevant (at least to us) - it closes less than 10% of our budget deficit.

No, they do what they are told to do.

Not what they think is best

You were too much of a bitch to even take me up on it. Having said that - what deal, exactly?

There is a flat 10% tariff on everyone,

The additional 20% was explicitly explained as a punitive fiscal penalty because they have not yet fixed the fentanyl export issue.

I’ll also note that they setup a hotline by which if China violates the terms agreed to that the full previous tariff rate goes back into effect.
