What I HAVE said in the past - in response to macabre threads demonstrating a blood lust for shooting to kill, like at Rio Grande river crossings - is to point out that 1st time illegal border crossing is literally a misdemeanor.
It's clearly illegal. But pining for executions is crazy to me.
