I swear I haven’t been able to clear my lungs in two months. I will even be on my job saying, “God what is wrong with me?” I’m going to the Doc in the morning. Obviously something I should have done over a month ago.

Fair but he didn’t have copd or something.

He’s a middle aged dude with probably hypertension and maybe diabetes. A lot of people in America are like him.

80 degrees exposure apparently kills it (outside of the body)

10+ page thread on this on the OT

I typically avoid the OT. I found this out thru regular not virtual social life.

Not being a dick, but i saw his picture, he may have been “healthy” but he Is over weight and not by a small margin.

He’s an attorney so he probably likes the powder as well.

Oh come on, y’all lighten up a little bit.

ETA: Seriously though, prayer sent for the counselor.

Prayers to your friend

I looked at links provided. He looks “commonly” healthy (for the average Louisianian)

As other posters pointed out, few people are “perfectly healthy”. If he was a busy 45 y/o attorney, health and wellness were likely not a huge priority. Pics tell a lot about body composition which gives a window into metabolic processes (diagnosed or undiagnosed). He does not look perfectly healthy based on the pictures provided. How much stress was he under day to day. How much sleep was he getting? If he is like other 45 y/o professional I know, all of these metrics matter and are underestimated/neglected

There are many instance of people in “perfect health” at least in their own mind because they never have to see physicians for routine screening evals, having bad things happen to them (cardiac events which typically are lethal the first time they present).

Take home: if you are a “common” Louisianian, stay your arse at home and chill/sleep (even if you think you are “healthy”)

Hate the OT or not but it’s just not really a political thread so it’s a confusing place to put it.

Currently the end of Summer in Australia and they are seeing cases albeit not at the rate we are.

People also get the flu in the summer, just not at the same rate as in winter. Only time will tell if this is heat resistant.

There are going to be cases like this. Young healthy people die every year from the flu.

Yes it is...outside of the body..like on door handles, etc. I will die at 80 degrees like most viruses.

Unless I missed it the article fails to say how he may have gotten infected or where the man has traveled or any underlying condition that could make him this seriously affected by the virus.

Its a weird story but then its Noladotcom.

There do seem to be a number of holes there, or at least some missing pieces in the progression.

When the documents arrived, they showed he was negative for the flu as well, despite the treatment plan he was given.

"Outraged!"
"Outraged! I tell you."

He wasn't perfectly healthy, looking at him his BMI would be in the obese or near the obese category one of the big risk factors for this.

I’d be willing to bet he has high blood pressure. Those patients have not been doing well and he fits the profile

Seems like its mostly people taking ACE’s and ARB’s, due to the up regulation of ACE II receptors. However, again more often than not, patients with HTN, tend to not exercise, and that also reduces lung capacity
