Yes! I know tons of conservatives in my area of the south who love to talk shite about welfare but hen quietly go about collecting as much as they can from the government. Sadly, a lot of people like the idea of not talking social assistance more than they do in actually not taking social assistance.

How many businesses are dependent on the government and amass large fortunes on government contracts some of which are no no bid or skewed to certain businesses owned by politically connected individuals?

Your links are from Axios Media. Left leaning news pushing the left agenda. Owned by former Politico folk. Located in Virginia.

You didn't read the link did you?

The Axios link was their coverage of an article in The Wall Street Journal titled
"Americans Are More Reliant Than Ever on Government Aid"

This article talked about how

"Rural areas, in particular, grew dramatically dependent on everything from Medicaid to food programs as good, higher-paying jobs disappeared.

Overwhelmingly, these counties vote Republican. The transfer payments are funded in part by taxpayers in rich blue areas."

I wonder how many people are abusing the system.

If I’m not mistaken, if two people aren’t married, therefore file their taxes separately, a mother and the kids can qualify for Medicaid even if the father makes $100,000 and they live together. In Louisiana this is the case, at least.

This encourages people to not get married and game the system.

All you have to do is drive along an interstate hwy thru pretty much any State in the South and you'll see how Louisiana has been left in the dust manufacturing wise.

At my company, Healthcare is covered 100% by the company for the employee but only 50% for the family/spouse/kids. Most of the guys significant others and kids are all on Medicaid because the costs are so high.

These are hardworking manfuactruing guys and not like govenement handout people, but they also know the system so they use it.

Reform is needed. Healthcare costs are just too high. Doctors, Hospitals, nurses all need to make less money. Hell therapists are charging $80-250 an hour to listen to your problems and give you a pill like they are actually doing something.

You far left wackos should be celebrating this. Even though it’s likely fake news. Your leaders run on expanding the welfare state then blame red states when their poorest are part of that expansion. Just another in a long line of disingenuous “arguments” by the wackos.
