But while the change in the headline data was notable, what was far more remarkable was data showing just how increasingly more reliant on the US government the population has become.

We are referring, of course, to Personal Current Transfer payments which are essentially government sourced income such as unemployment benefits, welfare checks, and so on. In March, this number exploded to a mind-blowing $8.1 trillion annualized, which was not only double the $4.1 trillion from February, but was also $5 trillion above the pre-Covid trend where transfer receipts were approximately $3.2 trillion.
We are fricked as a country. Cannot put the toothpaste back in the tube

No one should ever wonder why the person who promises the most free shite will win any election now hands-down.

Does that include employees of the government as well?

What did Romney say in 2012? Something like 47% of country recieves government help?
I'd assume that number is much higher now

Looks like a huge portion of this is covid stimulus related
It appears to have been steadily increasing up to that point though

I don't believe those numbers. I think the government is too big and out of control for anyone to get accurate numbers on anything.

I’m not rich but my taxes are 6 figures every year
I’m trying to get there though.

Subtle brag is subtle; also you do not understand the definition of rich.

No,
My kids are getting close to college age, and I'm wondering how in the hell I'm going to pay for it.
They both have very good grades but even at that, 20-30k a year for one?
After taxes, house payments, insurance, retirement, food, utilities, etc, etc. It adds up.

Just because you do not feel rich does not mean you are not rich.
If you have a six figure tax bill, you are rich.
Be grateful but don't come here looking for people to pity you; we won't.
