WAIT - That is an inspirational thought!!!
How about that we have an amendment that says you cannot vote for any office you are ineligible to hold???
THAT would put the voting age for POTUS to at least 35, along with many other offices reduced to 21.
Let 18 yr olds be restricted to whatever is left over.
I believe that would be in the sense of the original constitution. At that time a 21 year old was a seasoned citizen, or else someone who nobody respected. Hell - any 15 yr old at that time had more real world sense than 3/4 of the 21 yr olds today.
And the DEMOCRATs want to reduce it to 16 !!!!

I don’t know, but his card was no yes yes on the amendments.
Only thing I see is how they could possibly harvest illegals ballots and mail in ballots. Imagine a Dem organization with the power to fill out all those ballots.

Well the language used was a double negative and I believe 1/2 of those who pressed NO thought "No, I do not want non-US citizens to vote" and probable 1/2 of theose who pressed yes thought "Yes, I do want non-US to vote".
The passage writers did their best to fool the voter. They do it all the time.
It should have said "Do you want illegal aliens to be able to vote in a US election"? yes or no

anyone who was born in the US who can't get ahold of a duplicate birth certificate shouldn't be trusted with a vote.

They just voted the way the preachers and Cleo told them to vote.

First off I voted yes on this issue yesterday. Second off, that’s not what the bill was saying. It was a close decision for me since proof of citizenship is a way to stop US citizens from voting. So many are without an ID, passport, and can’t find the birth certificate but we’re born in the US
This is the dumbest thing I've read today.

if a non-us citizen can vote in a federal election
should a non-state citizen vote in a state election
should a non-county/parish citizen vote in a local election

Obviously, some municipalities and local jurisdictions in the country have taken steps in recent years to allow non-citizens to vote in LOCAL elections.
Was the State of Louisiana concerned that one of its cities was about to do this?
If not, what was the purpose of this Amendment? Virtue signal?

It was an attempt to prevent any effort by NOLA to do so in the future, IMO.
The Secretary of State also mentioned that existing language in LA could conceivably lead to confusion between citizens of the State vs. residents of the State vs. US citizens, but I haven't looked at it in any detail.

The Legislature wanted to head off any effort by NOLA at the pass. So in that since virtue signaling with an eye towards never even letting such an effort get off the ground if the legislature ever went back to the Democratic side. But when you add in the context that Louisiana amends its Constitution instead of governing via legislation, it is less abnormal than it seems. Our state Constitution is a dumpster fire and has been amended hundreds (if not more) times.

Link to proof of "so many" having this fake problem?

"Should the Constitution be amended to prevent individuals who are not United States citizens from voting in state and local elections?" Would have been so much more clear than what they trotted out.

I have always thought that "yes/no" was a stupid way to vote on these things.
Provide a summary of the proposed Amendment.
Adopt ____ Reject ____ (choose one)

That’s because they’re already voting

A little fricking personal responsibility or some shite.

29% statewide let that sink in.

28% of that 33% are low IQ voters who were utterly confused on the wording of the Amendment.
Which like it or not, actually gives it a chance
