It's good to get records cleaned up, like we should voter roles. But question...were these names a tally getting money and/or benifits hit against their SS#? If so, whomever is getting it needs to be questioned and put on payment plans to pay it back.

there evidence these "people" actually received benefits?
That’s the biggest question. Why they can’t just come out and tell us, I have no idea

I bet in that manual it also states when people over 115 should be purged from the system.

I don't think anyone is purged, but the flag is changed to deceased. OIG tried to get them to change all over 115s to deceased in 2015, but the head of SSA refused.

Elon has been repeatedly broadcasting this discovery of ultra-old SSNs for weeks now, but he’s always careful with his wording to specify they’re simply “active” and not necessarily receiving any kind of benefits. Obviously, this would also be highlighted if evidence was already available. Maybe it’ll come to light, maybe it won’t, remains to be seen.
At face value, this finding doesn’t really move the needle and doesn’t seem to warrant this much attention. It only really makes sense if the intent is to fuel speculation. I’m sure the Poli Talk geniuses see it for what it is, but meemaw and pop pop on Facebook are just gonna read a misleading headline and assume 3.2M people were fraudulently receiving a SS check every month.

Not to dismiss DOGE's work, but as I understand it, none of these would have had checks sent out.
Supposedly, any checks sent to anyone over 115 require an annual verification. I suspect that anyone trying to cheat the system would not want to be under that scrutiny, and would move to greener pastures.
So I doubt there is any actual money savings, but it makes sense to clean up the database. Supposedly, this was a known issue, and it was determined it would cost more to clean it up than any harm. Not sure I buy that, if the DOGE team already got it done. That in and of itself might highlight government inefficiency?

I wonder if they can still vote ?

That’s not what the tweet says, FWIW. This is a roster purge - more helpful in preventing future fraud than anything.
To your point, those 600 million in SBA "gifts" to 11 year olds and 120 year olds, scammers used the SS system to access those numbers and get the loans.
Musk says a lot of the fraud in other govt programs uses the antiquated SS system to set up scams.

"Funny but I read that as 3.2 million of our most vulnerable citizens could die now due to Trumpism".

There weren't any. Title of thread is misleading
Tell us how you confirmed there were not "any".
3.5 days and sfp has not responded. I wouldn’t have thought that someone with 440,000 posts would actually be selective in his responses.

So we’ve still just got basic database cleanup so far. Nobody has responded with evidence of any checks being sent out to these people over 120.
No $$ savings… No care.

The average monthly Social Security payment comes out to ~$1,976. If all 3.2M accounts were receiving payments, that could be ~$6.3B per month or ~$75B per year.
This all depends on how many, if any, were active and receiving payments. Even if they weren't receiving payments, it's lazy and sloppy to have them active.
There is a huge difference in the two scenarios. Lazy and sloppy is one thing; sending billions of dollars to dead people is another.
If billions have been going out to dead people, the American people should be notified now. There is no excuse to be playing games with this.

Cleaning up the database minimizes the opportunities to commit fraud. That is a win.
Having said that, I have no doubt that some organized crime has been taking advantage of this door being left open for quite some time. Did DOGE stop checks to 3.2 million people. Of course not. However, I have no doubt that some checks were going out.
Elon’s stated goal of getting the federal departments on a computer system with the ability to cross reference each other, that will minimize the opportunities for fraud.

Don’t understand why the left tries to defend this.
With our systems, these checks are on autopilot. It’s not like someone is sitting in a dark room hand writing every check.
And with direct deposit I could see how a dead person could still be getting money.
Could also be stolen #s.
It’s better to just clean up the database more regularly.

So say I die at 75. I get paid til 115 because they don’t clean up their database more often.
