We need to do whatever it takes to destroy the enriched Uranium and their capabilities to obtain more for now.
Regime change will take some time it looks like.

Not that it’s relevant. Or perhaps we should pass a law that says we have to poll the parents of service members before going to war?
Its not a direct line to the parents but making it so only congress can declare war certainly was in the spirit of giving the American people a voice on when or if war is declared. A ground force invasion of Iran, especially one where we have already created an absolutely massive humanitarian crisis by destroying all their infrastructure and turned much of population against us would be absolute nightmare. It would be a nightmare in the current conditions, Around 30% already stand by the current regime. You want to add to that and then commit troops to the ground? (EDIT) last part was pointed towards Dawgfan man, not you, unless you support that path as well.

hey, I'm not the idiot with the son working for jooo overlords.
amazing that you've gotten yourself into this position and now you want to try to be the smartest person in the room we are in, while questioning/diminishing the folks who are actually in charge of your son's future right now.
but if lashing out at someone pointing out your idiocy makes it better go nuts.

Congress, which was elected by the people, ceded the vast majority of its foreign policy responsibility to the executive a long time ago.

Would you agree that the US military has air superiority over American sky's?
Yet it's entirely possible that a car, boat, or ship could be hit by a "projectile ".

It is possible to have air and sea superiority and some shite still happens. It’s akin to Dayton University kicking another FG against Ohio State while already trailing 56-3 in the 3rd Q.

Yea and that is some thing we should push to reverse. A ground force invasion of Iran where tens of thousands of Americans will likely be killed and trillions spent obviously isnt simply going to be an executive decision.

Slow down. Read further back. Poster was talking about going scorched earth and turning them back to the stone age. Yes, that may turn them against you when they are all dying.
I took that as militarily, not even the schools and daycares.

I suspect any ground operation will be very specific and aimed towards specific goals as opposed to a full on invasion and occupation aka Iraq/Afghanistan.

We had air superiority over Germany. Still lost planes.

If that was the case, sure. I just hope the bombing can get this done. When it is time for the Iranians to rise up, I hope they get it done. I think right now the Iranian leadership is just in a hole somewhere hoping time will help them.

And what goals would that be? Im still trying to figure this whole regime change on a small budget and very little ground forces concept that seems to be what the Trump admin wants to accomplish.

The IRGC runs the entire country. The economy, public works, policing, black markets.all of it..They live among the populace and their 600,000 man militia force also lives among the population. They arent all in bases or hiding in caves. They are the average citizens next door neighbor. Which is why it going to be more difficult to dislodge them from power than simply bombing military targets.

Securing the strait of Hormuz. Specifically by taking ground on the Iranian side to be able to setup missile and drone defenses to protect shipping.
Setting up bases inside Iran to allow forces to hunt down and kill IRGC units and leaders who will threaten the populace and new regime assuming they do attempt to overthrow the current regime.
A robust force to protect whatever diplomatic mission we set up if a new government takes over.

And you think in a country with a population and size of Iran that the force required to accomplish that goal wont approach the levels we saw in Iraq?

Reminder that tankers got attacked in the Strait back during Trump 1.0 in 2019.
Four tankers were hit. The attacks involved limpet mines placed by divers from fast boats, causing hull damage.
So this these attacks on commercial vessels ramped up right before Covid trying to draw Trump in.
Strangely took a pause during covid and the Houthis took the lead.
Then strangely all went quiet during the Biden years.
Now attacks on commercial vessels are back during Trump 2.0.
Back but they never left.
