I was a freshman in high school. Woke up with a stomach ache. Mom told me to shut up. The first tower was hit. I had no idea what the towers were. I'm a country kid from idaho.
Went to first period math class and they wheeled in the tv. Watched the 2nd tower get hit live on NBC.
My entire world changed after that day. Had to explain it to a 24 year old the other day. They couldn't comprehend it.
Asked my niece, who is a senior in HS if they went over it in class. She said, not really. Unreal.

I was working night shift on tug boats. I stayed up a little later than usual. As I was going to bed, the tv in the galley showed a plane had hit the south tower. Didn’t think much of it; maybe a small plane and an accident. When I woke up that afternoon I had a bunch of missed calls from my girlfriend, asking if anything was happening on the river. No clue what she was talking about. Then I saw the news….

The solidarity on 9/12/01 will never be seen again. Everyone was united. I spent two years in the Middle East after that. My regret is that I didn’t take more of them out.

I was in the Surgeon’s lounge, waiting on another surgeon to finish his case, and I was walking back and forth, telling the front desk and nurses about the trade center being on fire. I then watched the plane fly into the second building, then everyone, including me and the reporters on TV, knew what was up at the same time. I hate to say it, but they knew what they were doing, and that was the start of the war, on many levels, and it’s even worse today. I don’t know if we’ve ever been so weak as a society….

Except for Bryant Gumble. Even after the 2nd plane hit he was saying it must be some air traffic control computer error. (As if pilots are robots and can't take manual control before they hit a building).

Prevention of another 9/11 will only take by sharing stories and teaching about the event, the aftermath, and the clash of western and eastern values.
