2018 annual GDP numbers finally got released after the shutdown, showing a respectable 2.9% for 2018.

LINK

quote:

Real gross domestic product (GDP) increased at an annual rate of 2.6 percent in the fourth quarter of 2018

\

Real GDP increased 2.9 percent in 2018 (from the 2017 annual level to the 2018 annual level)

Also in the way of updates:

The goods trade deficit skyrocketed again in December to $79.5 bil, setting a fresh record. Guess it got lost in the shuffle, with the historic scenes of Korean denuclearization and the Cohen spectacle. LINK

While the GDP report was only preliminary, it would mean average growth for the year was 3.1 percent.

And they said 3% couldn’t be done!

It wasn’t though since the 2.9% is how they officially measure annual change. 3.1% is Q4/Q4.

From your own link:

For the year, annual 2018 real GDP increased by 2.9 percent, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

2.9% growth y/y is solid. I’ll take it all day long and twice on Sunday.

Obama was considered a failure because his economy never achieved 3% annual GDP.

It will be revised 2 more times. But it's unknown if it will be revised up, down or not revised at all. That depends on the results of the rest of the data that is received by the government from people and industry.

It is solid. I don't understand why the Trump cultists insist that Trump's numbers are higher than Obama's and that the actual numbers must be lies because they are under 3%. I understand that Trump said his numbers would be higher, and they aren't. For the Trump cultists to insist that reality is different than it is is ridiculous.

2.9% means that in 2018 the economy was sound. No one needs to insist that reality is a lie "because Trump."
