Probably mobile launchers?

I understand that but with the technology we have today we should be able to immediately detect those launches and reverse that trajectory and pinpoint exactly where that launcher was sitting and hunt them down. We were doing that with scud launchers in 1990.

No they aren’t. Then why haven’t we done shite in four months? We could wipe them off the map at any minute.

They aren’t scared of us. There’s a reason all these wars last forever in the Middle East.

They give up or you keep throwing haymakers until they cry uncle.

They are scared of us and they can’t do anything about our superiority over them. And we can’t take them fully out without political, financial markets and public blowback

Lose/lose situation

Get out of there that very same day. Don’t even bring a change of underwear. Level it in one day and have them on a first class one way trip to tittytown.

I’m really just fooling about. I get you on that, with the “then what” being a whole new chapter in the book. Countless considerations there.

Like Dresden and Tokyo?

Do you support sending the in hundreds of thousands of troops to occupy Tehran after we throw these haymakers?

Kill the fricking IRGC leadership! Where the frick are they, and how can we not know?
All I hear is "they're holed up inside mountains etc" How can we not have prior knowledge of bases built into mountains?

Just drop crates of satellite phones in every city and let them know we'll pay anyone who can text info about military sites, targets, leaders, offices, etc.
Give these people a chance to know the truth. Phones do that

Most people haven’t even considered that, and somehow believe that Trump’s simply choosing not to “level it” because he’s just not in the mood. The aftermath is almost a brand new “war” in and of itself, and I feel quite certain that the “then what” factor has been very, very, very influential in their planning and decision making.

I would blame this more on the religious zealots that control the country. They will never agree to disarm and it’ll always turn into this if they remain in power. I don’t think you can negotiate with them

Why have we not been able to acertain when and where these missles are being launched from

They basically have an entire manufacturing and transport system running throughout the country. They can launch at X, pull them down & move them, launch at Y, pull them down and on and on it goes.

Makes targeting, let alone crippling, very difficult. Just one more factor that should have been considered before launching this mess.

I suspect it’s a combination of both (1) Iran’s systems (Chinese and Russian tech) are a little better than we expected AND (2) that we aren’t willing to show China and Russia our full counter-battery capabilities for their systems. They’re obviously watching.

I’m sure it was. Pretty clear at this point that we had bad intelligence (again), and a false sense of confidence in the defensive capabilities of the gulf states.
