WRONG!

The limits are arbitrary and change at a moment's notice. What was acceptable yesterday is verboten today.

some of things I've read on social media should get people in trouble or fired

No I disagree. Only if there is a direct personal threat made to individuals. In this instance, it should be investigated by law enforcement which would probably result in termination anyway.
Making benign general comments about politics should never, ever affect ones employment.

Who exactly is setting these limits and why are they the final arbiter?
Bonus question: why are people thinking they need to kowtow to the mob?

Not really, if a company singles a person (or in this case two out) for firing not based on substantive reasons a good employment law attorney can get it won.

Not in Alabama.

Not unless we're talking about someone in a protected class that got fired. A straight white male?

Nope.

what a fricking piece of shite

A fricking kangaroo court can set any "expectations" it wants I guess. Just remember what goes around comes around.

And to add: the left has now ushered in this concept that certain speech is in itself “violence”. This is of course anything they disagree with. So I could go on social media and comment “I don’t support BLM because it’s a communist front movement.”
Well Suzy at work, who supports BLM, could read my comment and not only disagree but move to get me fired. She could report me to HR and say that my post has made her feel unsafe in the workplace. She can then garner support from other like minded individuals and then I’m called in and terminated just like that.
This exact scenario has played out over the past few weeks by the way.

Do your friends that got fired have access to the internet? The announcer of the Sacramento Kings was forced to resign on June the 2nd for tweeting the same thing. It is a shame your friends don’t keep up with current events.

Here come the fascists to explain to everyone what they can say and you can't, while spiking the football.

Just wait till people like this moron have full control. You will lose your job, then you will be jailed.

The Jacobins always think they’re safe right up to the point they’re marched to the guillotine.

In addition, legislation should be passed to protect workers from being forced by their employer to comment on political or social issues in the workplace.
I’ve read of situations where people were fired for not showing open support and affirmation of BLM.

So they got fired for keeping their mouth shut?

Didn't know people had the right to my opinion.

Firing people for a political opinion is what you’re defending. But it’s just because it’s a political opinion you agree with.
