I was there last year. When I saw this I was thinking the same thing. That is primo real estate that was occupied by old historic buildings and old time homes.
Very easy to start a fire in the right location when the winds are blowing the right direction 30-35mph.

Funny how all of that always happens in liberal states that care about the environment.
They have some whacky romantic notions of what naturalism should be.
There was a small park in Manhattan that the city turned into what it called the original vegetation of the island. Of course it became a tangled mess that caught a lot of wind blown trash and soon became the home of a lot of rats. At least it didn't catch fire.

Its sacred land. The locals are goona go nutz. Would not be shocked if the robot dogs are released for test run when they do
Pretty sure that Lahaina used to the Capital where the King and Queen lived
I have a great client who i havent been able to reach. He owned a mechanic shop on Front Street
He said they have been getting offers for years from.developers. his place is for sure burnt down

Liberals like scenic places, usually places humans shouldn'
t be living like Southern California or Phoenix/Las Vegas where there isnt enough water to support them.
They are hypocrites.

There’s reports that the fire hydrants were mostly empty since the hotels use so much water. The sirens didn’t go off, no good evac plan in place, etc. for an area susceptible to tsunamis as well.
All this in an area with basically one road out, and always packed with tourists and natives.
Sounds like multiple, immediate failures on top of not managing the land correctly. My first reaction was sadness after having been to Lahaina a couple of times, but it feels petty now knowing so many lost their lives and others lost homes and everything.

No sense in pretending to care when you know the voting system is rigged in your favor

There are cheaper ways to make fire. Powerlines falling down in high winds are quite capable too.

Handlers have to write it so he can read it sometime from a teleprompter. I suspect it will be in his speech in Wisconsin tomorrow.

Jonn Pelletier also reflected on the anniversary of the 1 October 2017 shooting during his interview and described leading the area command that covers the Strip that night as his greatest professional achievement.
The professional recalled the “incredible loss of life” Las Vegas saw on the day of the tragedy, including the death of one police officer, and he believes his experience leading a team of officers that day has prepared him to handle any situation going forward.

Did it though?

... it doesn't help when the initial fire reports came out stating the fire was located between the Maui Hilton and the Four Seasons hotels

What do you expect him to say? HI is run by his ilk. All of this is a bad look. Once they come up with a way to blame white people, the retarded pedophile will then read the words off a teleprompter.

Cold heartless non-response. But then that's vintage Joe Biden.
He could have said - our hearts and minds are with the citizens of Maui and the people of Hawaii at this terrible time - we stand with you. But he didn't.
Like I said, vintage Joe Biden.

Don't feel bad for anyone in a blue state

What the frick
If your political ideology has led you to root for normal families dying, or at the very least losing everything they've ever owned and worked for - you might need to take a step back.
There is no blue vs red when it comes to natural disasters killing entire families and burning everything an American family has ever cherished.
You've lost your fricking mind and need some perspective

If only it was a hate crime hoax... Biden would be talking up a storm about how the fake hate crime is destroying democracy and how it was perpetrated by rightwing extremists.
