Colorado High School recites Pledge in Arabic. Heads explode.

The principal at Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins, Colorado, is facing a hailstorm of criticism from some very angry parents and residents.
The school recites the Pledge of Allegiance weekly, on Mondays. Last Monday, a member of their “Cultural Arms Club” led the student body in an Arabic version of the pledge, replacing the words “under God” with “under Allah.”
quote:
Her simplistic defense included a reference to “one” supportive email and a reference to a similar mistake last year which drew controversy when the pledge was recited in Spanish. Somehow not learning from and expanding upon your previous mistakes is perceived as a viable defense for these educators.
An abdication of responsibility is also part of their defense. Clark attempted to pass the buck of responsibility to the students, saying, “This is a student-initiated and student-led club. There is no school sponsor or advisor. It doesn’t come under the umbrella of the district.”
Actually, the activity of reciting the pledge does come under the district. Choosing to put it into the hands of a group not regulated by their administrators does not provide absolution.
“We deferred to the students because it’s their deal,” she said.
quote:
One cultural club member, professing to not understand the controversy is Skyler Bowden. Bowden simplistically told The Coloradoan, “No matter what language it’s said in, pledging your allegiance to the United States is the same in every language.”
Given their youth, the high school students might understandably not recognize the problems with proclaiming America as “one nation under Allah.” The grownups should and they ought to be controlling the activity.

"One nation under Allah?"

I can see why people would be outraged...
But technically (and theologically) speaking, aren't Allah and the Christian God supposed to be the same entity?
I feel like I've read that somewhere. Could be wrong.

Where do the prayer in school advocates stand on this?

Doubling down on stupid... always a good idea.

How is that Arabic? or was "one nation under" also in Arabic? I don't have a problem with this.

It depends. Historically, to the extent you can say that, perhaps. But they're given different attributes and roles in theological texts, so saying they're one and the same is pretty weak, IMO.
In reality it is just an argument used by the citizen of the world types to morally equivocate Islam and Christianity.

They should fire the principle and take away the school's basketball team

It appears the "Cultural Arms Club" was intending to have the pledge recited in many different languages, not only arabic. Not exactly news worthy, but kind of dumb considering you know people will take offense.
And btw Allah means God. If you were to say God is Great in English, it would translate to Allahu Akbar. Allah is still the God of Abraham so I find it amusing when idiots say "frick Allah"

Most likely, any white christian that is upset about this and advocates against it, they will be extremely demonized and vilified by the left and MSM for being racist or prejudiced or bigoted, etc.
Pledge being said in Spanish is bad enough. But arabic? Really? Like a mosque being built by ground zero...what a slap in the face.
No immigrant assimilation anymore.

The parents have a right to be pissed and call for the firing of the principal.

I bet the student club that organizes "BJ Fridays" is a great club to join.

Yea, I think I understand what their intentions were, however who was the bright person who decided that the first one they do is Arabic? I would have more sympathy for them if they had done this previously with some more languages like spanish, french, whatever (maybe they did and the article just doesn't mention it). Choosing Arabic first, with the obvious sensitivity that our country has towards that culture, was pretty naive.
