My latest Texas Longhorn News Thread...DeLoss Dodds out next year...

I know how much you guys love my UT scoop...
DeLoss will retire in summer of 2014. Why then? Because he gets some type of 7-figure employment bonus for lasting until then. So what does this mean? Well, for starters, he would prefer his replacement be the one that hires the next football coach after Mack Brown retires.
With Texas returning 19 starters, expectations are high for Mack. If Mack has another lackluster season, he will most likely be forced out. Even if Mack has a stellar year, with DeLoss leaving in summer of 2014 and UT President Bill Powers potentially leaving soon too, Mack might find himself out of his comfort zone with new bosses and see a chance to retire on a high note.
But that would have to occur in December 2013/January 2014, right?...well before DeLoss wants to retire. So, the plan will be to bring some Associate AD to be the AD-in waiting. This person will be an integral part of the selection process for the next head coach.
Although they would love to have a coach like Urban Meyer or Nick Saban, they know that is not feasible, and they prefer someone younger. Therefore, their sights are set on Will Muschamp. He will be Dodd's recommendation. David Shaw will also get a look, but Muschamp will probably get first offer and potentially $6 million per year.
Of course, Mack could win 10 or 11 games this year, and decide to keep coaching, much to the dismay of those that want him gone.
As with all my other UT scoop, this info is subject to change at any moment.

I believe that Mack was ready to retire and ride off after that BCS title game (at least until his qb quit). Then we stole their hciw.

With Deloss out who is running the BIG12 show? We all know he is a key figure in conference expansion and security

Also, A&M fans would have to find a new excuse to not play their daddy if Dodds leaves soon.

I think it would take a butt load of money to get Boom out of Gainesville. He's already got one of the best jobs in the country.

They shouldn't be concerned with DeLoss. They should just focused on DeWin.

How do most Texas fans feel about DeLoss?

He'll be able to get $4.5 at Florida...he is already at one of the top programs. It will take the bank to lure (or that is how his agent will play it)

What UT fan wouldn't love DeLoss? UT has made bank under his stewardship.

Boom would be a great hire for them, they need some type of energy over there

Because UT isn't cutting them a check. In fact, they are shaking them down for that money. DeLoss is a terrible AD for precisely this reason. He's essentially extorted the fanbase for as much cash as he possibly can, and he's putting out a crappy product right now. Texas makes more money than ever, and they are now winning less. That's a bad combo.
He's also guided the Big 12 to the brink and almost seen the whole thing fall apart on several occasions, and gotten Texas slapped with a villain tag. He wears the black hat. Dodds is everything wrong in college sports. I hate him, but if I was a Texas fan, I'd hate him so much more. It's like having Jerry Jones own your team.
Oh, and A&M offered to play Texas but it's UT that refused. Because of Dodds. As soon as he retires, I think we see those two schools find a way to renew the Thanksgiving tradition.
