Also it doesn't matter how much he's getting paid Gronkowski should be ahead of everybody not named Revis or the elite young QBs

His contract is actually pretty good once you get past the overall number of the contract. Hernandez not on the list is a tragedy

Ware is a better player then Allen easily

Well he did just sign a big extension.
But yea he should still be on there

Gronkowski with his big contract is somehow 17 spots better with 2 years left on his 3rd round contract....riiiiight.

He signed it what 3-4 months after Gronk signed his? And for a good 20 million dollars less.

I cant stand reading anything Bill Simmons has his fingerprints on in the slightest bit

Graham obviously doesnt make sense. Especially considering they said Gronk would be top 10 if not for his contract. Graham's still on a 3rd round contract.
Definitely wouldnt have Luck ahead of Cam. Dont wanna come off as some Cam Newton lover, but there's no way the Jets get a bigger offer for Revis than Carolina would for Newton. Revis is by far the best CB in the league, dont get me wrong. Washington also laughs at a RG3 for Revis offer.
Champ Bailey got traded, in his prime, straight up for Clinton Portis. Washington gave up a small village to get RG3, before he ever played.
Despite Stafford's contract, I think he's too low.

Revis is better than Bailey and teams are passing the ball much more these days which adds to his value

11. Patrick Peterson
Pro-Football-Reference.com has a stat called Approximate Value that the site uses as an (admittedly vague and imperfect) measure of overall player performance. Last year, do you know who led all non-quarterbacks in Approximate Value? If you don't know that I'm about to say Patrick Peterson, you're probably not paying very close attention!
That seems wrong on its surface, but if you think about it for a second, isn't Peterson a viable candidate for best non-quarterback in football? He dramatically grew as a defensive player during the season, starting off as a liability and finishing as a guy who followed the opposing team's no. 1 receiver around the field. He won two games with punt returns and nearly sealed a third. He now has as many punt-return touchdowns in his career as any other active player besides Devin Hester — pretty impressive for a 22-year-old. At the very least, considering he makes a relative pittance and has his entire career ahead of him, Peterson has to be in the discussion for most valuable non-quarterback property in the league.

Having Revis and a shitty QB has done nothing for the Jets. If not for Rex and Tebow, they'd barely be a footnote. The next cornerback to lead a team to a Superbowl win will be the first cornerback to lead a team to a Superbowl win.

I think the reason Graham, Gronk or even Hernandez are too low is because the same guy who wrote this one, also wrote another article implying that the season Gronk/Graham had last year were flukes and gave reasons why it would be an abborition and not a revolution. He linked it in the article and its a load of crap

Yeah all they have done is played in 2 of the last 3 AFC championships

Sweet. Get back to me when Mark Sanchez or Tim Tebow is holding a Superbowl trophy for the Jets.

Patrick Willis is about as athletic as it gets at linebacker and Graham torched him. Safeties and corners are too small.

I think those two are gonna be just fine...

Agree 100 percent
The day they find someone that can guard those two is the day that player goes top 3 in the draft
Thats why i cracked up when someone said the reason the Jets signed Laron Landry was too have an answer for the Boston TE party (Gronk and Hernandez). That wont go well for them

Posted on 8/31/12 at 7:51 pm to wildtigercat93
Gronkowski is going to make a lot of QBs look awesome when its all said and done

While I found some of the rankings pretty problematic, some of them that initially seem contentious can be rationalized by thinking about what that player means for that franchise. Jimmy Graham's ranking is stupid as shite, though.
