Ricky Jean Francois "“If he (Luck) was in the SEC his draft stock would fall,”

Agree or disagree??
49er says Andrew Luck’s draft stock would fall if he played in the SEC
49ers defensive tackle Ricky Jean Francois is an admitted college football junkie and why not? He went to LSU, a school that is currently ranked no. 1 in the nation. Jean Francois has also seen plenty of Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck and he has a strong opinion on Everybody’s All-American.
“If he was in the SEC (Southeastern Conference) his draft stock would fall,” Jean Francois said. “He wouldn’t be the top player taken in the draft. I can say that hands down. Andrew Luck is a good quarterback, but playing SEC schools might not work out for him too much.”
The SEC is considered the strongest conference in the country. The last five National Champions have emerged from the SEC and currently, LSU and Alabama, both SEC schools, head the BCS top 25.
Luck and the Cardinal could possibly meet an SEC school in a bowl game and maybe even for the National Championship. Jean Francois has thought about that eventuality and the fact that it would pit him against his head coach, Jim Harbaugh, who helped turn Stanford into a powerhouse.
“If that happens, I have an LSU tee-shirt waiting for him,” Jean Francois said who asked to assess the Stanford team as a dedicated college football fan.
Jean Francois knows about titles. He won a national championship with LSU in 2007.

His coach won't like that

Then why have scouts identified great quarterbacks in the SEC who are rarely great most the time and often on losing teams because of the SEC d-lines?
Scouts aren't this stupid to only see greatness because of weak competition.

It's unlikely that Luck's draft status would drop below the first pick. However, his statistical performance would most likely be wose if he played in the SEC. And that would reduce his ratings with the professional scouts somewhat, but not significantly enough to make him less than the most desireable prospect available.

I'm not sure many people think athletes are the smartest people on the planet

RJF is still talking shite?

He's probably right.
Luck has the luxury of playing weak PAC-12 defenses every game. It gives him the appearance of a can't miss QB.
Everyone claims that John Elway was the highest rated QB to ever come out of college in recent memory, but he (Elway) is not in the Top 5 NFL QBs in the last 30 years.

He probably thinks that SEC defenses are better than NFL defenses.

I agree with him. Luck would still be a respected QB, but not necessarily as recognized as he is at Stanford.

No he's not, his stats would definitely not be the same (DUH); but as someone mentioned earlier scouts just don't look at stats. His stock would be just fine.

First Tebow, now Luck.

RJF has the quickest rise and fall of any LSU player not named Cecil Collins. He played what felt like 10 games at LSU and entered the draft.

He was unblockable in that game against Ohio State

The SEC #1s of the 2000s were Eli Manning, JaMarcus Russell, Matt Stafford, and Cam Newton. It's hard to compare apples-to-apples with Cam, but I think Luck would have fared at least as well as the others if he had been in their situations. I also think he would have done about the same at Vandy as Jay Cutler.

According to who? I would say that a lot of people have him in the top 5 QBs of all time.

It's not like he was mediocre though
