Then why have scouts identified great quarterbacks in the SEC who are rarely great most the time and often on losing teams because of the SEC d-lines?

Scouts aren't this stupid to only see greatness because of weak competition.

Yeah its just too tough to survive in the SEC. He's better off taking his chances in the NFL cuz lord knows he couldn't hang in the mighty SEC, no pac 10 QB could. Aaron Rodgers is lucky he plays in the pros and not the SEC, he would be below average in that league.

Agree.

Andrew Luck is good, but it's hard to tell how good he really is playing against shitty Pac 12 defenses all the time.

You know, some of you other fans who seem perturbed by the SEC homerism do realize this is an SEC board, right?

Ryan Leaf could've been a good NFL QB. he just had a shitty attitude.

If he played in the SEC wouldn't he be surrounded by those amazing athletes you brag about daily? Why couldn't he be as good? Also there are 2 great defenses in the SEC this year, the rest are average. Who else are these great defenses you speak of that would expose him?

Why would he get hurt? Getting hurt is a fluke thing. Do fluke things happen more in the SEC?

Do most star QBs in the SEC sit on the sidelines during games due to this apparent fluke epidemic?

I said it was hard to tell how good he really is. He could be a bit oversold. But perhaps, he is even better than people think (which would be hard to do).

By the media, maybe - but honestly; has Stanford winning (beating up on Pac 12 teams) really helped him that much - no one even talks about Stanford and it's not like he's pulling some Timmy Chang and throwing for 500 yards a game.

The question was stock...meaning scouts and they analyze his ability regardless of competition.

If anything it would be higher playing the SEC with the amount of respect those guys give it.

No one accused RJF of ever being intelligent, but come on, who's your fricking head coach?

So if Luck played for LSU or Bama he wouldnt' be as good? Wow some of you are fricking amazing with your SEC homerism

I would guess his stats would be a lot different but his skill would be the same. He would not put up Heisman #'s in the SEC but he could still draft high. Examples are Cutler, Stafford, etc...

I don't know if his numbers would be the same, better, or worse... but IMO if he developed at say Arkansas or Georgia in the same way he developed at Stanford he would be considered the probable #1 pick for the first draft he entered

The biggest question mark to me would be more to do with him getting the same level of QB coaching/development... not whether he played at Stanford or some random SEC school

Dude is for real and if people can't see that then I don't know what to say to them

But according to Merril fricking Hoge, it's ALL about the physical tools a QB possesses.

Idk what's worse, rantards or SECtards that act like even the lower tier SEC teams possess some violent, hard hitting defenses

Matt Leinart here.... I could not be the QB I am today if not for the challenges I faced in the PAC 10 while at USC.
