An earlier thread got me thinking about the competition to this point, so I did a little research about Bama's schedule in comparison to LSU's.

Bama's Schedule:

Kent State is ranked dead last in total offense.
Penn State is ranked 97th in total offense.
North Texas is ranked 106th in total offense.
Ole Miss is ranked 102nd in total offense.
Vandy is ranked 96th in total offense.
Arkansas is ranked 15th.

If LSU had played this schedule they'd be #1 in total defense. I have no doubt Bama is good, but this level of competition skews their numbers slightly.

LSU's schedule:

Oregon is ranked 3rd in total offense.
Moo State is ranked 85th in total offense.
WV is ranked 13th in total offense.
Kentucky is 114th.
Tennessee is 63rd.

My point in starting this thread is because I was one of the ranters who thought Bama was better than LSU. I'm not so sure now. They haven't played nearly the schedule LSU has.

I don't think anyone is saying Alabama is really good just based on their stats.

I wouldn't go that far, but I agree that their schedule has made their defense appear a lot better than it really is. How good is it really? We'll probably have to wait till Nov 5 to find out.

Through 7 games, that logic doesn't hold up

I don't understand why you idiots do this. If it's true, keep your mouth shut! You beat Bama on Nov. 5 and you look great. On the other hand, if you lose then you've lost to a team that, by your admission "isn't that good".

Grow a brain.

I wouldn't go this far, but I was not understanding the awe last night against Ole Miss. They really are terrible this year. Tenn beat maybe a better Ole Miss team last year by almost the same score. Ole Miss was dominated by BYU earlier this year (score notwithstanding, BYU dominated that game).

Yes they are, especially the defense. Learn their names because you'll be hearing them called out on future NFL draft days.

Its fair to criticize their schedule to date but not their talent.

I agree. You really can't sit here and honestly say "Bama is not that good". We are 1a and 1b and it really is hard to say which team is 1a and 1b. Either team would beat Oklahoma by 12-14 points.

Meh, before you believe what you posted proves anything you should consider UO is 91st and 44th in total D and scoring D. You would be better off comparing common opponents, starters available during those games, and home or away status.

Bama is damn good, we will find out if LSU's defensive front can handle Bama soon enough.

"There are three types of lies: Lies, damned lies and statistics." - Benjamin Disraeli

Alabama's defense passes the "eyeball test". They're damn good, period, end of story.

Next you'll tell us that Trent Richardson is just an average runningback.

Do they really? Yeah i could see that argument if they took a 30 ranked offensive team to a 50 a 1 to a 20, but those numbers are putrid. Terrible offenses all of them outside of the bama game. Look at UO we held them way below their average and they are back up to 3 because they are a great offense

ETA Im not saying they have a "bad" defense they have a great defense however theyve played some TERRIBLE offenses

I said this last week, and broke out the numbers.

Alabama is a good team.

We are just better, IMO.

My concern is the D lines we have faced. Nothing special at all so far. Bama is a MUCH different story.
