I’ve eaten my weight a couple times over in bass due to having several ponds that constantly need thinning. I don’t understand the bleeding heart mentality on any decent sized lake, the population is going to be dependent on habitat, not you keeping 4 12” fish. That said, I’ll trade 10lbs of bass filets for 1 lb of white perch, and I don’t understand why anyone would set out to target bass to eat unless they are jumping in the boat. Bream and white perch just taste better and are easier to get in the boat consistently if you’re going on a meat haul.

Yall really want to start some shite keep a few trout (the river kind, not spotted seatrout) and post them on a fly fishing channel.

Because they are douchebags who didn't grow up fishing with their pawpaw.

I disagree. Bass taste great, and they yield great, and they are super easy to clean. Bass were made by God to be fileted and fried.

they so worried about the sport of it all, yet these are the same guys that go to a deer lease and sit on a protein buck from a blind, with a high powered rifle.

And they don’t have a place to clean fish in their HOA neighborhood oasis.

I went out on Bruin yesterday to try to fish amongst 5,000 bassholes fishing some tournament. I had to go to the complete opposite end of the lake from where I wanted to to get away from them. Ended up down by the state park and caught 6 in about 20 minutes burning a trap over this little flat. One was 4.5 lbs. When I threw it back the two boats that were down there saw it. I guess that signaled to them I wasn't in the tournament and the frickers descended on m little flat. I said screw and left. Go to my pier to clean the (5) 2lb ish bass I kept. Some douche comes by fishing my pier and see's me filleting them. Hits me with a comment about how I should just catch perch if I wanted to keep fish to eat. I told him I only eat bass, then started throwing my carcasses in his direction. He got all pissy, cranked up and hauled arse. It was pretty funny. But yea this new breed of bass fishermen are terrible.

Imagine not keeping bass
Unless its a big boy it's going in the box though we don't actually target bass so we never catch the big boys so I couldn't tell you the last time I threw back a legal bass

Should have told him that was racist.

Nice. Probably the prettiest view on the lake. Ended up being bought by Joe Banks

Now this is something to strive for. I never thought to do this, but I love for people to get all bent out of shape over nothing.
Edit: After looking around, I’m completely baffled these people exist, thinking bass is strictly a sport fish.

I even said we kept them because the pond was getting drained and folks were still straight up saying I was a terrible person for it. If I go to hell for eating bass then I'm doing pretty damn good.

I am team zip lock bag and this would be funny. I can show my cooler with 5 bass in it and for a demonstration I can pull out the “over the slot” bass and fillet him.
