OK

It looked like you lived in a subdivision from the pics you posted. I assumed it was a standard lot and was just going to frick with you.

I cut 2.5 acres.

You should have gotten the Stout BTW just because of the name.

It's a subdivision but with bigger lots. Lots on a lake can be smaller than mine, lots off lake bit bigger in size

Thats exactly what I thought.

For cutting regular-sized yards, I like them more. Standing up on a sulky isn't bad, and I'd rather do that than have to get in and out of a seat all of the time

for what you'll spend on a riding mower and maintenance, hire someone.

Someone who is cutting for a living isn't going to push mow your grass, and that commercial 42"-48" ZTR is going to do more damage than a residential 32"-36" ZTR. Size of yard doesn't really dictate how much damage it will do to your lawn.

For the cost of what it will take to get someone to cut your grass for 2 years you can buy a small residential riding or ZTR, weed eater and blower.

I have a small yard and a 36" hustler raptor. I can wake up off of nights and get the grass cut on two lots in the heat of the day during the summer, before going to work and beat the rain if need be. Plus I'm not a worthless peice of shite at work after.

Because they have gotten cheaper and lawn tractors aren't much less so why not get a ZTR?

Get off your lazy arse and use a walk behind. You proa my need the exercise. Anything under an acre is a waste of time and money.

You will never regret having a riding lawnmower over a push mower, especially in July and August.

See, I may be in the minority, but I hate cutting grass. HATE IT. I'd get the biggest thing that could fit in there. Who cares if all you do is engage the blades and the lawn is done?

And tear up the grass? So what. That's less grass to cut next time. Did I mention I hate cutting grass? But I have to cut 6 acres a week. And no, I don't get paid for any of it.

.31 acres with a house, driveway and flower beds? You can not be serious about getting a riding mower?

.31 acres on an empty lot....maybe

I was expecting this :-). The main reason is when I am home I want to spend time with my 3 1/2 year old and 8 month old.

Of all the reasons, that's the best I could think of. Well done!

Thanks. If I can cut an hour more out of my week to spend with the boys at the pond or whatever then it is worth it to me.

The only thing I remember about my pawpaw was him letting me ride around on the tractor with him when I was young. Good times.

Now anytime we go to Lowes or the depot the oldest jumps on the tractor and his eyes light up. Just brings back good memories.

With all of that said I showed my wife the thread and she said see you don't need one. Ha.

Twice a week seems extreme to me. Once a week tops in peak growing season is all I consider.

my wife said as much when I bought my ZT and front end loader. Stay strong! Few wives appreciate such simple luxuries until they mow a little themselves!

Did you decide yet?

I did the same thing. Was coming home from work and spent 2 hours with a push mower. Kids were already in bed when I finished.

Found a deal on a 48" Hustler and I'm done in 40 minutes.

You take the high points of the thread to the discussion with the wife, not open up the thread and show all of the negativity.

I got tired of dealing with cheap push mowers breaking down, easily cuts off half of the time to cut. Plus I don't have to cut as frequently to make it easier to push. When you get a week of rain and the grass get really tall, you'll thank yourself while you're drinking beer on a ZTR for 15 minutes rather than pushing for an hour or more.
