Since not everyone reads the OT, cross-referencing that thread here. Looking for a used Tundra!

Just sold my 18’ model 1794 Edition last month. Was a damn great truck. Just don’t need a truck anymore and 14mpg is sort of for the birds right now. I paid $43K out the door for it; brand new from my local dealer in 2017.
I put nearly 150,000 trouble free miles on it. Oil, brakes, tires, filters and that’s it.
Listed it on Facebook Marketplace with an asking price of $25,000 and figured I’d get talked down to $22,000 or so. The truck was sold at full asking price only a few hours later. They are definitely in demand apparently.
Best of luck…

Yep. And that’s exactly the type of truck I’m looking for. Figured someone on this board may no longer have a need for one so figured it’s worth a shot.

I just sold my 2016 Tundra with 271k trouble free miles and bought a 2021 TRD Tundra with 50k miles from gulf states auto in Tuscaloosa.
Toyota is just so stupid for giving up that V8.

Drove it for 9 years and it only depreciated by $18,000 with 150,000 miles on it. I basically rented it to myself at $165 a month for nearly a decade. One of the best investments I’ve ever made. Agree with others; giving up that bulletproof V8 was a real mistake for Toyota.

I was in a Toyota plant last week, and trust me giving up the V8 wasn’t their idea. They would have continued turning out the 5.7 for all eternity if emissions standards hadn’t forced their hand.

wish I never would have sold my 06 Tundra double cab...

I’ve heard the statement that emissions made them get rid of the V8 but I honestly have no clue what that means in detail.
I know the government was throwing around money like candy to get them to build EV’s but did some emission law change that would have made selling the 5.7 V8 illegal?
Several manufacturers offer multiple engine choices in a platform. Couldn’t they have done the turbo V6 and the 5.7 V8 as options?

Its often used as an excuse. Without digging into the particulars, manufacturers are held to average MPG requirements over their entire product line, so a gas guzzling product (V8 tundra) has to be offset by a very efficient product (prius or EV). I dont think EV's count as infinite MPG though. It gets screwing and CARB makes it even screwier than just the EPA alone. Volumes play into it. Total tons of emissions is part of it i believe.
You CAN sell a sub 10k lb GVWR pickup that gets 6mpg in america but its not simple to do. Its simpler to design engines with belt driven variable displacement oil pumps and 10 speed transmissions and cylinder cutouts than it is to sell a 6mpg pickup truck that is cheap and lasts forever.

I've got an 07 for sale. Probably not what you are looking for though. Sent you an email.
