Deacon - don't get your hopes up. They've been saying that my whole life.

2 sticking points - no where to put the dredged material and too expensive to pump and spread onshore.
Secondly, the dredging operations would contaminate the thibodaux water plant.

More fresh water from the river would help, but it would also raise the elevation down the bayou. Which those people can't afford.

Op - stay on the bayou.

Interesting. I know they dredged from Donaldsonville to around Napoleonville recently. I was curious what they did with the mud.

Because we have too many Baton Rouge folk moving in, we don't need anymore.

The bayou is bayou Lafourche and it's not that great for public access.

so we can't currently build anything in or along the bayou (decks, boat slips, etc...).

Why can't you build anything? You should be able to get a permit and build. I did about 8 years ago.

Sell me your house and your bayou view.

May find some building options in Lowland if that's not too far out of town.

Well the great debate is move and build vs renovate. Either way we're probably looking at a new $250k mortgage.
which you will be able to make a ton of money on when you want to sell.

We are currently building on Bayou Lafourche, just south of Labadieville. Talked with the Bayou people and hopefully they will dredge in the next 3-4 years because I want to build a dock. Bayou will look so much better after.

im pretty sure they are about to dredge around Thibodaux.

Personally, I would love to have a house on 2-5 acres right outside a small city
Then a camp on the river. Not even a resort. Just nice enough that the wife wouldnt mind going to it once in awhile, but plenty good enough for me

I know for a fact they put all the mud and whatnot on land and spread it out amongst probably 10 blocks of what was sugar cane. Me n pawpaw would go ride out there a couple times a week while they were dredging in belle rose. Smelled like straight arse.

I mean it's out of town for Thibodaux, but it's not a long drive from town at all.

My inlaws live "across town" from my parents and it's 1.5 miles as the crow flies. That's a neighborhood over in BR.
