a baw near my house has a set for sale that will fit my truck without a leveling kit with about 20,000 miles on them. I do not need tires but if i did i would have these at the top of my list. They are $235 each brand new right now. They seem like they are in good shape and he replaced them because the wanted something bigger. he is asking 450 but im not paying that.
what does the OB think? yea or wait until i need tires and buy new.

That’s a fair number of miles, he would have to come way, way off that price for me.

The baw bought your house and now is trying to sell you used tires?
All kidding aside, like MTNTiger said, 20,000 miles is a lot. What kinda tires do you have now? I’d wait till you need tires.

For only 20K miles on them, $450 isn't really a bad price but I would throw out $200 and go from there. Just make sure that the tread is worn even which means he rotated them regularly. Also, if you have a dry place to keep them, you can hold on to them for a while until you need to replace your current set.

I would look at the age also.
After about 3 years my last ko2's started to ride like crap. Still had plenty of tread but just rode really rough.

I think $350 is a legitimate answer here

That is a good deal for 20K miles. less than half prices for about 70% tread. Ill take that all day every day. Says your not paying that so if you get them even cheaper at $400 its a dang steal.

20k is likely a 1/3rd of the life on them
.66 left of $940 is $620
$450 seems like a good deal, but still try to low ball him.

I have some with about 60k on them,, they still look 8/10.
Best tire I’ve ever had.
ETA: I do rotate every 5500 miles.

I don't think that's a bad price either. I got almost 90k out of my last set on my F150. I'm on my second set now they have about 40k on them and still look new. I do rotate them regularly though.

I think that’s a pretty good price if they are in good condition. Rotated regularly, correct air pressure etc. .
I just last week put my 3rd set on my ‘06 Jeep Wrangler. Averaged right at 80k on each set doing a 5 tire rotation.
So with 20k on them there should be some pretty good life left on them.

There is a date code on the side.
Find it and look it up. That means a lot. KO2s are pretty recent so I'd imagine they are not too old.
I'd go about 350 on them. You still have to pay to mount and balance on yours.

I love the BFG KO2s. I got 80,000-85,000 out of both sets I put on my old F250 and that was without even rotating them properly. My boss had similar results on his Tundra.
I'd definitely try to talk him down but wouldn't walk away from that deal at $450.

It seems like a good deal if the actual wear on the tire corresponds pretty close to what he says about the actual mileage on them. I'd definitely go check them out first and put eyes on them because in my experience, people selling used tires almost ALWAYS exaggerate how much tread is remaining.
What I would do is just get a tread depth gauge and see what they actually measure. BFG KO2s are almost all 15/32nd in tread depth (so, close to a half inch). My original KOs lasted about 60k miles, so 20k would be about a third of the life. So the remaining tread depth should be around 10/32nds. If they are close to that, then $450 seems like a pretty fair price to me.
ETA: Everything else aside, the KOs/KO2s are some of the best tires you can buy. My original KOs were so fricken quiet on the road that it was almost like riding on passenger tires.

Those are great tires and very reasonably priced. What size are they? If you decide to pass on them, I'd like a link/contact to purchase.

That’s if you are planning on riding them until they are bare. You would want to change them out with like 4/32nds left, maybe more if you like the more aggressive look. So subtract that out before you divide by 3

Yeah I was just going by bare minimum if he wants to run them to bald (definitely don't recommend that though). I agree and usually recommend at the very least changing them out around 2-3/32nds left.
