Women at the boat ramp trying to launch. Hillarity.

I can't imagine being a grown man and having time to film a boat ramp for the socials. Go home and get your Fall garden put in.

People can't figure out that you have to do opposite what the screen shows since you are going backwards

I ain't gonna laugh. But I should.
About 3 years ago I go fishing. I was fishing by myself that day. When I'm by myself I tie the 15' dock line to the trailer. Back boat up into water, let boat slide off. then pull up a little and untie line from trailer and go about my business. Except this day I forgot to tie the line to the trailer. lol. While backing up and the boat sliding off I realized that I had forgot to tie on. frick. Watched my boat drift about 200 yards with nobody in it. lol. That was a weird feeling. Waited about 10 minutes and a ol' boy drives up to launch his boat. I walk up to him and he is laughing. He says to me. "I'm glad I'm not the only one that shite happens to. I've done that at least 3 times". lol
I've been launching boats for 40 years and thats the first time I had done that.

I'm smart enough to release all the tie downs but I aint' going to lie, I suck ar backing in trailers too. Especially those little frickers that don't even try to cooperate.

I did something similar a few years ago. Backed in, let the boat slide off the trailer....rope came taught and immediately broke just past the eye! Boat drifted out past the lee shore adjacent to to the ramp into about 20 MPH winds....which proceeded to blow the boat directly to the dock on the starboard side almost dead center of the dock! Ever so gently....and the wind held it there until I was able to park the truck and trailer. Walked down the dock, stepped into the boat and an old man bank fishing said "there ain't no way you can do that again" to which I replied "sure there is, I do it every time"! Talk about lucky....if the wind was a point or two off perfection it would have blown the boat past the opposite shore and into about 5 miles of open water. Sun had detoriated the rope and I hadn't noticed it.

I taught my wife when we were 22 years old to back the trailer down the ramp...she is as good or better than I am. That was nearly 40 years ago. She was a nervous wreck but we did it over a couple of weekends when the ramp wasn't busy and I simply let her figure it out and only offered any advice when she asked.....patiently offered advice.
The absolute worst thing you can do is rant and rave and scream and holler and show your arse. I saw a man do this with a woman once when there was a line at the ramp and after jack knifing twice over 3 ramps he told he to get out, using terms that can only be described as disrespectful and she complied....and started walking toward the road at the ramp. He jumped in, backed it in, loaded the boat and took off after her..the last I saw of them he was crossing the bridge and they were having a conversation while he drove alongside her.....

I learned to back a boat trailer in a 1965 chevy PU with three on the tree, manula steering and a camper shell on the back. It was a 12 foot boat and the trailer was probably 16 feet from the ball to the 9.9 evinrude. If you caught a glimpse of the trailer in the side mirrors it was nearly jack knifed....it required simply blindly backing up and hoping for the best....you couldn't see any of the trailer in any of the mirrors and could only see the stern light through the camper shell by turning 180 degrees while simultaneously working the accelerator, clutch, brake and steering wheel....it was some kind of fun LOL....

How many of y'all ever backed in a forgot the plug???? If you ain't its probably only a matter of time.....
Two of the best things my Daddy ever taught me was to pay for gas when fishing from someone else's boat and how to back a trailer down the ramp to retrieve the boat. Most people will offer to split the gas and will turn you down when you offer to back the trailer down...but if you offer often enough most will eventually agree, because it really is easier to load a boat if you don't have to back the trailer in. Once you prove you can chances are damn good you will be invited to fish off their boat again. I do it with fishing guides and they almost never relent but the few times they have cemented a fishing friendship that lasted for years. Try both sometimes, I bet you will find yourself getting invited back.

I finally broke down and purchased those tall PVC pipes to go on each side (24' Yamaha). Made boating life much simpler.

Never forgot to put the plug in but once I forgot the turn off the live well fill.
I soon after learned I had a short in my bilge pump and the pump wouldn't work. By the time I got back to the marina and loaded the boat to pull the plug and drain Lake Pontchartrain out of my bay boat I had had enough and just went home.

I did that at Shell Beach on Cane River one October.It was pretty chilly,had a little wind blowing the wrong way.Not another vehicle at the landing.
My only option was to swim out to get my boat,like I said it was pretty chilly so I didn’t want to swim in my clothes or even my underwear.If I had got my underwear wet it would have have been too cold to fish and would have been a long miserable ride home.
Got naked,swam out to my boat,got the rope and started swimming back towing it.
A farmer on a tractor was driving across the bridge,stopped and was watching me.I waved at him,he shook his head like “what a dumbass”,then finished driving across the bridge.
Got back to shore,redressed and went fishing.
After all that,I didn’t catch crap.

When I had a boat, I asked my wife if she knew how to back a trailer in. Her response was the most confident "I've been hauling horse trailers my whole life". That's when I knew this wasn't the greatest idea, but I also didn't want her to trailer the boat since she had never driven it.
Sure enough, she gets stuck trying to get it down the ramp. I called her and calmly walked her down the boat ramp.
I too have been hauling trailers my whole life. . . and my experience includes actually backing them up.

In the last 22 years I've owned two ski boats that were 23' and 24'. My driveway rises 7' from the street, is about 110' long and curved with a wood fence built right next to the driveway. The first boat, fully loaded with fuel and water, weighed 8400 pounds and I used a Chevy Express 2500 with the 6.0L Vortec engine and a heavy duty rear end. It had no problems pushing it back up that hill, but Lord! Was it ever nerve wracking at night trying to back it in going up that hill and maneuver that curve. The second boat was easier as it weighed less than 4000 pounds.
