This whole thread is sad and pathetic. You should have come into your marriage as a gun owner and it would be a non-issue.

Tell her to make you a sammich and get back in the kitchen.
j/k it took my wife about 3 years to go from never holding a gun to wanting to concealed carry one. she is starting show signs of the same condition I have called, "ineedmoreguns-itis" it is a very contageous condition that cost a bunch of money sometimes and quite a few tragic boating accidents to claim.

Wife asks why I want a gun
quote:Pay some thugs to attempt to break into your home, mayeb but be scared off. You're wife will buy the gun for you and probably give you a BJ as an added bonus.
She doesn't understand why, and really doesn't even like the revolver being in the house.

Do you have kids? Do you have plan to have kids?
Two movies to watch with your wife.
A Time to Kill
Law Abiding Citizen
Thats why you want a gun.

I have a 5 shot revolver for very close range protection, but I want a semi auto pistol and a couple of clips. She doesn't understand why, and really doesn't even like the revolver being in the house.
Society is fricking crazy and I desire the ability to protect my family if ever needed.

The correct thing would be that BOTH of you get a handgun and take classes together for a permit and shooting lessons as well.IMO it's just as if not more important that she has a gun as well.

You should meet my wife- we're building a new house and it's gettting a built in gun safe.
When the SHTF a few weeks ago, she encouraged me to buy a new AR on top of the ones I already have.

You need to introduce her to shooting.
A girl I know pretty much instantly changed her opinion on firearms when she got to shoot some shaken up 2 liter bottles with a .38

ask her why she wants 100 pairs of shoes, 20 purses, etc. you don't have to justify shite, if you make the income.

Tell her that you are a man and want a gun... No questions asked...

All I read was the subject line.
You want a gun for several reasons.
1. Because you want a f'king gun and unless y'all are financially destitute and ought not spend money on one... well, nm you should still at least own ONE gun.
2. It's sort of in the man code to be able to provide and protect, right? At least the married man. Self sufficiency is a part of what makes a man a man.
3. Regardless of her arguments, you're right.
4. They can sometimes actually be investments. And at worst case, you can sell it for half or more than half of what you bought it for anyway.
5. Go get one!
6. Remind her of WHY the 2nd amendment was written and how important that is.

I don't see that at all. The last new one (357) just sold a few minutes ago for $770. All I see is clips now.

You really need to take her shooting. My wife was similar, not really scared of guns, but didnt see why we needed so many.
Took her shooting a few times, and per her request, she received a 9mm for christmas. Chicks are power hungry, she'll like it.

Sounds like both of you could stand to learn more about firearms.
And get a youth 20g pump shotgun, load it with #4 buckshot. Pistols are not your best option for what you are using it for.
