Why choose a 1911 over Glock 21?

Looking into getting a new 45 acp, and I am curious if anyone can give me some examples of how a 1911 would be superior to a g21? The glock is easier to field strip, clean and has more capacity. The only thing I can think of is the 1911 is prettier

Funnnnnneerrrr to shoot and moar accurate.
Also sexier for sure. If you don't have a 1911 and have other carry options I would for sure get the 1911.

It's like asking why choose a Porsche over an F-150.
The Porsche is going to perform better and is sexier to look at. But the truck is more practical and useful

1911's are just plain better shooting. I have a USP 45, which by all objective metrics is a better gun, but it simply is not the shooter my mil-spec SAI 1911 is.

Thanks for the responses...ill have to shoot a few to see if it's worth the extra money for me

That's a bad analogy. Apples and oranges. The truck would "out perform" in towing, cargo room, off road use, etc.

Compared to a Glock trigger the crisp trigger of a well-tuned 1911 is like night and day. That being said both pistols serve a purpose. I'd suggest you buy both if you can swing it. I certainly enjoy shooting a 1911 more than a Glock but the Glock's usefulness cannot be denied.

Sigh
The point is that they are for different uses.

They're both full-size handguns chambered in .45 ACP. They're intended use is the same, unless your splitting the finest of hairs.

Sounds like you' ve already made up your mind.

Does anyone know the OP's intended use ??
If it's for self-defense, it's hard to imagine the odds of buying any 1911 off the shelf that will be as reliable as an out-of-the-box G21.
If he wants it just because it's prettier,

I wouldnt. A glock shits all over the 1911.

I love 1911's but they are the handgun you buy after you buy a glock, only one chambered in 9mm. You can't touch the 1911 for accuracy and fun shooting but it has its limitations: single action only, heavy, low capacity, cost, etc. If you end up owning more than 1 or 2 handguns, a 1911 should be in your arsenal.

Just buy a 2011 and have best features of each. STI DVC tactical if you want a .45

You shoot a 1911 and angels sing.
You shoot a Glock and you can shoot longer with out reloading.
Holding a 1911 is like holding your dick. It feels good.
Holding a Glock is like holding someone elses dick.
A 1911 is something to be proud of.
A Glock is just a Glock.
A 1911 is a work of art.
A Glock is DU print you got a deal on at auction. yeah its got a duck on it, but it's just a damn DU print that'll probably just sit in your attic.
A 1911 is that hot chick at the bar that everyone wants to nail.
A Glock is that OT 5 that fricks, but you can't be proud of it.
1911's are just a joy to shoot.
Glocks go bang.

Well, I sure haven't had an issue out of the Sig 1911 UC I purchased two years ago for my primary concealed weapon. 1000+ rounds and counting without a single misfire, and ridiculous tight groups. Nice, consistent snappy trigger.
I bought the Sig to replace my Citadel 1911 that had an issue with the slide catching after firing a round. Sent back to have it repaired, and still came back with the same issue.
So, 500$ pistol vs. 1100$ pistol = no comparison. If you're going to buy a 1911, buy a quality one and enjoy. You might break the bank but you won't regret it.

Ask yourself why you want any gun, and what it would mean to you.
Do you really, really anticipate using it in self defense (meaning, do you honestly think you will get in a shootout)?
If you do, you should probably get the Glock, or other relatively inexpensive and reliable tool.
If you want something capable of defending yourself with it, but that you will enjoy and be proud of owning, and will likely pass down, then get a 1911. People don't get excited about inheriting Grandpa's Glock, they do for Grandpa's 1911.

If the gun is for CC self defense, glock.
if it's to shoot for fun, 1911.

If you can conceal a 2x4 in your pants, then fine. Personally my dick takes up so much room I can't pull it off.
Seriously, OP, you're gonna run into a bunch of guys that claim to be "experts" and know what's up. They're going to preach Glock this and Glock that. Some may even come in the guise of "instructors" and (God forbid) Cops. But heres the truth as I see it. If you want something that is completely ubiquitous and goes bang every time (most of the time), go for the Glock. They are fine weapons. Not usually the easiest to conceal. The 1911 ia flat out the sexiest handgun made. Not really a dispute. They are HEAVY and they have a low capacity. Both can be had in smaller, more compact and concealable models, but the 1911 is going to be slimmer, thus more concealable. Still heavier, and if you have ever carried, you know how big of a deal this is. IF you are serious about carrying and reliability, then get a snubby and don't look back. Shoot outs are done within a couple shots anyway (despite what the Glock guys see on TV).
THE GLOCK IS AN EXCELLENT WEAPON, but at the end of the day it's just a Glock. it has no soul.
