I've seen a bunch of em in Tensas Parish. Had one in
a tree in my backyard in Litchfield county, Ct. The Bastids have taken over.

I saw one at Morton Salt on Weeks Island. It was eating out of a dumpster.

We pulled up and stopped to look at it and the guy with me said "I've got a honey bun we could feed it"

People up in Point Coupee are worried that if the open the Morganza they will have black bears all over. Apparently they are plentiful up that way.

Yeah, I see those bear crossing signs over there on Hwy 90. I always thought they were sort of a goof.

This is why I was asking. I was just curious as to who has seen one. The "official" numbers seem to be about 300 in the state, with most in Tensas Parish and the next most sizable population in the Basin.

300 total in the state?

Some lucky sob's to be seeing them. Have between 25k-35k here and I've never seen one here.

shite, I have to bear proof my garbage cans to not see them. We have them everywhere. Anytime you go hiking here there is a very good chance you will see a bear. Brown or black.

When I lived in La, I spent a lot of time in the woods and never saw one. Had a friend that claimed he did though.

Saw one in the woods around Tensas while "bearproofing" feeders and then saw one in a live trap that the feds had put out on the same piece of property.

Just across the river in Mississippi they have put up road signs to warn of bear crossing the highway.
