I was looking at the BCM Recce too, bc the flattop is really what I'd want long term, it's just impossible to get anywhere close to retail.

I called Primary Arms and they said they'll have BCM Recce restocked in November, no firm date/Quantity or pre-ordering.

BCM has some in stock on their site. They’ve been pretty good about having the standard 16” uppers. Anything shorter has been AWOL

He’s fairly knowledgeable but he’s just a jr NCO instructor for the Air Force, and unless something has changed in the last year or so he’d never been in combat. I certainly wouldn’t group him with Paranto.

I found colt I can get about $1,100. Probably stick with iron sights for time being, use balance for ammo and mags.

Go with BCM, or try to pick a Geissele on Black Friday or with a 35% off coupon.

Its simple. Just like the military you dont want a bunch of dudes running around with different equipment, plus its cheaper for a company to buy bulk. Most companies handle the weapons part as there are definite legal issues with bringing in a bunch of armed civilian contractors. Sure the individual might have their own kit and will get to choose what they want for the most part

Here is another reason:

All of my friends who went contract in Afghanistan or Iraq were given a budget for a rifle and pistol. Both having to be in NATO calibers. But they could buy whatever they wanted as long as they stayed within that budget.
