Could do upgrades later I’m just interested to get something soon.

I bought the Ruger 556 MPR for $950 from Sportsman’s Outdoor Superstore last month and am happy with it.

It shows in stock. They took about three weeks to get it to my FFL.

A run of the mill PSA will suit nearly every American just fine.

The Colt is the best rifle mentioned in this thread. Honestly, everything mentioned so far is either hot garbage, or overpriced hot garbage.

I also like the LMT patrol and the basic SOLGW build your blasters, but finding those right now is going to be challenging.

They were readily available in early 2020... I was stacking LMT's for $800...

Please don't buy a $600 AR for protection, especially with the crap out there right for $600 that was $300-$400 earlier this year.

I dont believe in best. Buy what you can afford, and feels good to you. Ive got friends who built cheap $400 ARs 5-7 years ago, and have put more rounds through that AR than anyone I know. He has got to be around 100k rounds through it, and I think he's replaced the barrel once or twice.

Look at some of the YouTube videos of Special Ops guys talking about their weapons. Kris Paronto (Benghazi) has used the same AR since 2005. Its a $500 bushmaster with a rail system, a shitty vertical grip, and a decent optic.

Im not going to try and persuade you, because Ive taken a look at your post history, as well as your username, and can tell I wont be able too. What I can say, is that most of the Seals, Special Ops, Rangers, etc who truly rely on these daily to function, arent buying 2k Daniel Defense rifles.

Well the Colt is legit.

My buddy bought a S&W Sporter or whatever it is called a few years back and was never an AR guy before. Since then, he lives at the range now. He put some decent optics on it and changed out the trigger but otherwise it is bone stock and I bet that thing has several thousand rounds through it now with zero issues.

Check out some of the YouTube videos and pod casts of Vigilance Elite, Kennedy Defensive, Garand Thumb, Ronin Tactics, and a few others. All former Seals, Rangers, Spec Ops, and most have done some form of contracting overseas. They all use different systems, and they are all built for their comfort and what they plan to do, but they arent spending $1500 on a base gun. They buy a decent starter like a M&P Sport, Bushmaster etc, and upgrade as they go along.

Heres just a quick video to see for yourself.
