Go down to Venice Marina and count the Mercs you'll see on charter boats. Now count the Yamaha's.

(PS might want pen and paper to keep count of the latter)

I wasn't saying one motor would put all 4 in guardian. I was saying a sensor on each of them would put them each into guardian

That was more sarcasm. The rest not so much.

And I think you probably know what boat I'm talking about with the power head issues

FWIW I think yall do great work, I've just had way more problems with mercury than yamahas.

Side note,
that yellowfin repower didnt happen to be a 42 with trip 350s did it?

this was a great argument in 2012, not so much anymore. I will say its partly because merc has drastically improved their guide program, while Yamaha has backed away from some warranty claims on motors in commercial use

that's the exact boat he is talking about. He is only getting verados because the Yamaha backorder is so long, not because

If I was a boat mechanic I’d only sell Mercury so I could mop up on repair work.

Well if this isn’t the pot calling the kettle black.......

Or should it be mercury calling the anchors black

Just like my buddy always told me: “mercury pioneered putting brakes in outboards”

"***breaks"

Nortech 39 with quad mercury verados. That’s an 80+ mph boat. New, that boat $600K.

That's because the price that Mercury is selling to the guides is crazy low. You can only buy market share for so long.

You’re welcome to stop by our shop and see 3 Yamahas on a Yellowfin that couldn’t make it an entire summer without blowing all 3 powerheads. Yamaha only covered 1.

Only 1 was blown. Was there a defect and should they have covered all 3 yes. But as many problems we had with the Gen 1 verados, the 2nd gen did perform much better.

So the truth comes out about 3 bad power heads?!?!?

It’s almost impossible for that to happen. Yamaha is proven to be the most reliable engines out there.
