Which AR calibers can share magazines?

I know 223/556/300BO will all fit in your typical GI magazine for an AR.
9mm and 22 obviously need their own magazines or adapters.
What about once they start going into the more exotic AR calibers like 224 Valkyrie, 7.62x39, or 6.5 grendel? I’ve definitely found specific mags for the Grendel but was curious about the others.
The 300BO custom mags seem more like just a way to separate calibers through aesthetics rather than being actually required to make the firearm run properly.

It’s my understanding that a lot of 556 mags will feed 300BO supersonics just fine but feed issues crop up with subsonics and the feed lips on 300BO specific mags are modified to take this into account. Additionally, I don’t believe 556 mags will hold a full complement of 300BO.
Also, you want the mags for 556 and 300BO to be different to avoid potentially mismatching calibers. For that reason, I’ve had my upper hand guard on my 300BO Cerakoted OD green and intend to use only metal mags for 300BO and paint them OD green.
FYI-the 277 Wolverine shares total commonality with 556 except the barrel. I want one, but not sure I can justify it since very few manufacturers make ammo for it.

I use a 556 mag for my 6.5 grendel. However, it’s a 10 round mag and I can only fit 5 cartridges at a time. Good enough for me as I only use it for plinking at 200-500yds

The 7.62x39 definitely requires its own magazines.

I also run 6.5 grendel thru 223 mags

The .223 and the .330blk are the exact same parent case. To get a .300 blk you cut the case off at the shoulder, size it and the trim to final length.
A 5.56 mag will hold the exact same amount of ammo as a .300. I use my .300 and 5.56 mags interchangeably and have never had an issue. I only run PMags.

6.8 and.224 Valkyrie have the same case and share mags.

The 22 Nosler is loaded to the same OAL as the 223, but it's powder capacity is increased over the 223 because the base and body of the brass are wider. Consequently, the 22 Noserl needs a 6.8 magazine.
The 204 will fit in a 5.56 AR magazine since it's loaded to the same OAL as a 5.56, but in my experience w/ P-Mag magazines, one probably have to modify the magazine lightly to avoid feeding problems. 222 Rem should do well. Other 223 based cartridges which should run fine w/ AR 15 mags would include the 6 TCU and 25-45 Sharps.

I'd never do this bc I wouldn't remember which mags were .300 and which are .223/5.56 and would blow my barrel out.
FDE=300BLK
BLACK=5.56
That way I can quickly color match the mag with what I want to grab.

Anything with .300 is in the case with the .300. It would not be an issue.
All I was saying is that you are able to use the same magazine in either gun.

As others have noted, 300 BO and 5.56 will use the same magazines and load to the same capacity. I’ve used 5.56 mags to run 6.5 Grendel as well but mostly I have 6.5 Grendel mags for that caliber.
